I think it's my data, yes it could help me. But I think it will be used agaist me one way or other. So my goal is to have working airbags and NO data being saved on this chip. I will probably will start by cutting power to it,,,,or ground. This chip can be written over 1000 000 times. That's over 500 days of data. But maybe I will be able to expedite the process. We will see.

Here I found free EEPROM programer:
    http://windows.podnova.com/software/983644.htm

PS please don't start with tin foil rant...

By looking on pin configurations on page 57 of pfd file I posted, I see "Data input" and "Data output". Maybe If I disconnect them from the chip at this locations and connect them straight together from output to input. That way computer will have uninterrupted flow of data and will NOT know that's not saving. Maybe. Any other suggestions guys?

Ok what I'm getting out of this is, how do we delete the info quickly or on a regular basis?

This has brought up another concern. Is it possible to remotely (wireless) connect to our trucks?

Do I need to drive around with my truck covered in tin foil.

It's starting to be done in Europe. They just passed a law that that all imports to Europe have to have remote access that law enforcement has access to in case the vehicle is used in a chase. With how this country is going I wouldn't be surprised to see it done here in our lifetime

I found a device for "conserned parets" that connects into your module and car wiring connects to that device. It's sends all data as email from your truck including information EDR records. If it available comercialy then gov. has them. Maybe it's project for them in near future.

I think it's better if it did not record at all.
But i did consider "a kill switch" that destroys the chip. That probably option two if I will not be able to disable chip from writing data.

On page 57: The pin #7 is "HOLD" pin. I believe it's suspends recording during accident so data wound not be overwritten by new data after accident. It's possible to put a switch between the memory chip and HOLD command. Ride your truck with off position and after accident, if you don't want for data to be overwritten, just flip the switch and it will save. From what i understand 30 seconds of recording is bull$***. I think it's longer then that. The smallest memory if .25 MB and I think that more then plenty for 30 minutes. I've seen some with 64 MB. I wounder why they put that much memory if they claim to record only 30 seconds.

I had bingo moment while moving some plywood. RELOCATE THE MEMORY!!! Solder memory OFF from air bag module. Solder extension wiring long enough so memory could be mounted next to cigaret lighter plug. It will continue to function and be accessible for driver to disconnect memory like usb flash drive and take it with you for evidence protection or crush it with your foot. I FEEL SMART

I probably will go this way. Any suggestions?

Maybe relocating WHOLE module so it could be easily disconnected and whole module taken with you...

Not as easily destroyable memory but better evidence.

You could cheat a little and just use a programming cable as your extension. http://www.aliexpress.com/cp/compare-ic-chip-clip.html
I would also rig the chip with thermite and wire it to your "panic" circuit so you could ignite it remotely with your key fob. They can't get data from a burned out hull! (just giving you shit man)

Thanks man, I see bunch of programers for $50 or so.

Some students from an ivy league college have demonstrated how they can hack a car via the wireless tire pressure monitor signal and take control of the car (breaks, steering, acceleration).

Connecting to a car via wireless sat antenna is an option on most new cars.

Yes it could, but chances that it will be used against us is much greater. Relocating box gives you accessibility to your own data. So you could disconnect and CHOOSE to use it as evidence OR NOT. Dash cam is a choice (for now) not something big brother tells you that you have to have. So how travel data is any different. It's my truck and my data.

There is millions of scenarios that put you at fault even when you think and probably you are not at fault.

Drunk kid, t-bones your car and kills your family. Shut case you think. Wrong! Well kid is sick with "affluenza" and you sir, hesitated to brake when you saw him coming, or speed up. On top of that you were 5 miles over the limit. So it's your fault your family is dead....

Like a said, millions of scenarios how it could turn against you. I rather have dash cam and submit as a evidence and same for crash data. Rather have it and be able to take it out from the car if I need to.

It's about personal opinion,,,,,, some think we should surrender our guns and live in utopia. Some believe in constitution.

Drunks are at fault when they get into a vehicle and start it. Your scenario here is false.
