Hey guys, long time lurker first time poster. Ive gathered TONS of info regarding the OME suspension. I'm ready to pull the trigger but have a quick question. I'm interested in about 2" or so of lift but I am concerned about ride quality first. Don't really off road my rig, daily driver, almost 90 miles a day to work and back. Was thinking of the 880's with the 10mm trim packer and/or the ¹/⁴" Toyotec top plate spacer. I'm tempted to get the 880's due to the ride quality. OR just get the 881's and call it a day. Whichever coil I get, I will buy the full OME suspension for my truck. Truck is a 2001 PreRunner, 2.7L Auto. Stock front bumper, pretty much stock all around. No plans for a heavy bumper. Already bought bigger tires, 265/70/17. So, the question is, if I go with the 881's, am I gonna sacrifice a lot of ride quality? I prefer this method so I won't have to deal with a spacer and what not. Any one actually try both? Is there a huge difference in ride quality between the two? Again, the size of the lift is not that important, ball park 2" more or less, just for looks. Thanks for reading this long post!!

I would just go for the 881's from the start. They aren't super stiff, you will get decent lift and if you want to.swap out bumpers or add a winch later on, you are golden.
My 881's from toytech came with a 1/4 in spacer I believe.

    Welcome to the forums.

Yea, I'm sure any upgrade is better than what I have now. Looks like its all stock with 207,000 miles.

Will adding the 10mm trim packer and ¼ toyotec top plate spacer negatively impact the rids of the 880's? If not, I may go this route. From reading all the different posts, it looks like I'll be in the ballpark of 2" and still get the smooth ride of the 880's. No plans for winchor bumper either. Its my daily driver and I want to keep the gas mileage up.

Just go with the trim packer. The spacer is ment to hemp with taco lean on the 5100

I think it's the other way around.
The top spacer adds lift with no change in ride quality.
I have not seen or used the 10mm myself so can't say for sure. Box Rocket will definitely have an answer about the 10mm trim packers as he is using them. My OME kit came with a pre-load ring that sat under the coil perch itself to address taco lean. It's on the driver side only. It's only about 5mm thick.

Ok, so the trim packer is not meant for lift. What about a small spacer in addition to the top plate spacer. Can this be done without affecting ride quality too much? If they make a ¼" spacer, I'll go that route in addition to the top plate spacer for some lift.

I think a set of Nitrochargers, 881 coils and Dakar leaves with possibly one leaf removed will give the OP close to what he wants just like Matic mentioned. Roughly 2" lift with a decent ride.

Again, not sure on the 10mm trim packer. I think it actually pre-loads the coil slightly, like its a bit thicker than the stock rubber isolator that normally sits under the top hat. You could PM Box Rocket for a quicker explanation if he doesn't see this anytime soon. I'll bet he'll chime in shortly though.
As far as a 1/4" top spacer, Wheelers carries those as well as other thicknesses. Yes it can be added for additional lift with no change in ride quality. 1/4" top spacer will give close to extra 1/2" of lift.

I would not stack spacers if that is what you are asking in the second sentence.

typical recipe for 3" lift using 881's is 881 coils=2" lift, with additional 1/2" top spacer to net 3" lift overall.

Ok, I guess what I am looking for is the overall height of the 881 with the ride quality of 880. I would compromise on height rather than ride quality which is why I'm looking for ways to boost the 880's height slightly.

That's funny cause I wanted the height of 882's with the ride of the 881's and it didn't quite work out that way, lol. But I know where you are coming from. Some allowances have to be made.

    880-16mm dia. 365mm length. 500lb rate
    881-16mm dia. 375mm length. 500lb rate

I think the ride quality will be very close as there is only an extra 10mm of length on the 881's.

I had the 881's for a while with no front end additions, bumper/winch, and absolutely loved the ride AFTER they broke in a bit.

That being said I can almost bet the 880's will feel a bit softer, but can't say by how much.

If ride is more important than height and you don't feel that you will want more lift anytime soon, then you are probably on the right track with the 880's. They are advertised as close to stock height, maybe a 3/4" of lift depending on variables.

Now how much lift you will get with 880's and added 1/2" top spacers, can't say. Maybe somewhere between 1 1/4" to 1 3/4" of lift.

Keep in mind, any coil you go with will probably lift you quite a bit from where you're sitting at right now due to the stock suspension sagging. So give it a while to settle before freaking out about too much lift lol. I know my 883s shocked me at first.

I've read different lift heights for the 880. From 1" to almost 2". I think Ill be good with 880's and the top plate spacer. Trim pack if needed. Thanks guys.

You are going to be significantly lighter up front with the 2.7 and lack, 4wd components up front. So you'll most likely be at the higher end of the lift spectrum with 880s.

Good point, I didn't take into account he has a pre-runner and a 4 cyl.
