    Hey all,

I need to pick a lift however, I need it to be the softest on road ride. There are a few reasons. 1. I suffer from chronic headaches. 2. I have a baby on the way. 3. wifes request :D

Obviously #3 isnt that big a factor ;)

So what do you all think. My requirements are to level the truck and add a firmer rear and squeeze in 265s or 275s (if they fit)

So on my past vehicles i have ran donahoes and Kings with eibach coils. I found the Kings to ride more smoother than the DO's.

Thanks in advance for all the suggestions. I have been reading for days and im still stuck. I am thinking of the sway aways 2.0 but then om wondering if the smaller diameter body and coil will create a stiffer ride than the 2.5s.

Since your looking at some big name coilovers I would say go Fox, They have the adjustable knob to let you make it ride like a caddy all the way to a stiff truck. The rear Fox shocks are the same way. However if you dont want to spend that much I say an OME lift is fine. Nice 3" but no adjustableness, yet way cheaper.

How much are you looking to spend? Since you dont go offroading I emphasize the OME. But If your fine going big name coilover my pick is Fox.

x2 I'm with jd on the FOX's. Icons are nice also. Both are adjustable. The OME is a solid lift at a good price.

I would also suggest some new UCA's. Total Chaos, Camburgs, Icons, Light Racing. Not really needed but definitely recommended. Helps with alignment issues.

I'm guessing you have a 05+ Taco, so 265 is the stock size. 275 i think would fit nice wouldn't have to trim much. 285/33 you will be looking at significant trimming.

I dont want to spend more than like 1500 bucks for front and rear. I mean I do offroad sometimes not as much as i used to in my FJ.

For 1500 i would say get the OME lift for 700 and the total chaos uca's for 600. That 1300. Same setup I run.

Keep in mind the spring rate is gonna make the ride more firm. Most Coilovers have a sopring rate of 650#. Regardless if they are a 2.5 or 2.0". Old Man Emu has springs rates availible from 590# to 650#. Stock is 540#

Sorry i wasn't trying to be a dick when I said it was "actually a 09". I noticed when i re-read it it sounded kinda cocky :).

I bought the 4x4 SR5 as it was the only long bed on the lot and I got such a smoking deal. I really wanted the TRD for the electric rear locker cause i had one on my FJ and it took me anywhere i needed to go. They are the best.

So when you say most coilovers do you know any that dont? I think King allows you to pick your own (at a price) from the ones they make.

    No worries.

I thought you may have had a TRD model. That's why i said 265 as stock size.

The Bilstien 5100 adjustable CO's from Toytec come with a 600# spring rate.

It looks like you are running the Old Man Emu set up front. How does that ride and what do you have in the rear?

I love the ride. I personally think its the perfect lift/suspension for a daily driven truck that sees moderate off road use. Everyone who has driven my truck, or in it, has been really impressed with it. In the rear, I had a local spring shop make me a 1" AAL, and I have been running the Bilstien 5100 rear shocks testing them out. For the rear, I prefer the OME n182's.

Chris4x4... do you have pictures of your truck you can post? I did a quick search and came up empty.

I'm in the same boat as the OP and struggling between OME and an adjustable coilover. I'm very green when it comes to lifts, but using spacers and shims is a hurdle that's hard for me to get over... not to mention using an AAL instead of a full leaf pack. Obviously they work well, with so many people singing their praises... I guess it's just one of those things. I should come up to your meet next weekend and pick everyones brains.
