I picked up those ST MAXX's tonight. I dunno why I didn't even think of it before now.

 

It doesnt take long if you dont mind it not being pretty. Some guys go all out and only cut the back 3/4 of it and then fold over the front lip and weld it back in place to block off the hole. I did mine in about 30 min with a small cutting wheel.

 

I rubbed the cab mount until i cut it. Aftermarket UCAs and wheel specs play a big role when determining if/why you rub the body mount.

 

True true. Mine is still all stock UCA's but im not sure what the back spacing is on my MT classic II's. I do know that my spacers are 1-1/4"s and i still nick the body a tad when im at full lock and the wheel is cut hard.

 

I think those are a pretty aggressive offset, if you lose the spacers you probably wouldn't rub there anymore. That wide stance is awesome though.

 

Yea I am stock uca's, 4.5 on the backspacing of the FJs. I could cut it out with an angle grinder. Hummm I guess I will find out.

 

Wait to cut. You might not rub, those are skinny wheels so the offset isn't to low and wont push the tires out as far as say a 9" wheel with 4.5" b.s. Plus having stock UCAs wont push the wheel back like aftermarket UCAs. You will probably have to do some trimming to avoid rubbing especially while flexing the suspension but my guess is you will clear the cab mount or only touch it occasionally if you offroad.

 

That was pretty much my plan seeing how I might make 2 trips a year out wheeling. My thoughts are mostly during hunting season. The access road is a little hairy.

I figured since I trimmed when I had 305's on a 9"/0 offset wheel, I wouldn't have to worry about clearance with 285's on a 8"/0 offset wheel. Nope. Looks like I have more trimming to do. The 305's didn't stick out that much with a 0 offset.
