I think I'm gonna use hose clamps to mount it, that or bolt through the load bars not sure how yet

I'd have it open on the driver's side. Just seems more practical to me. That's just my .02 though after seeing Josh's awning at the last BC gathering

I don't see how it makes a difference
    :notsure:

My tent folds out on the passenger side so I'd rather it be on that side as well

I think it's personal preference. My preference would be driver's side just to be able to keep an eye on it when on the trails is all

I'm probably not gonna have it on all the time especially not at rausch. If I use hose clamps it won't be hard to take it on and off

This Might be a dumb question...
... is it safe to cook under it? I don't mean huge charcoal grill but perhaps a small camping gas grill.... If it's indeed safe, and if you plan to... The opposite side may prevent the food smell from eventually impregnating the inside of the tent....

really depends on the tent opening...this makes more sense, unless you flip your tent around

i am leaning toward the 55 and have it open over my rear..gives me a covered kitchen and access to the bed..access cab limits my options not having a place to put it like you have there..

a bad ass setup would be how you have it, then add a 55 out the back

yea steve 1 hose clamp on each L bracket is more than sufficient. I had mine like that for 6 months and it was solid. And I agree that it should open the same way as the tent so you have everything on one side of the truck. I only have mine on the driver side because my then and awning are both on the roof racks.

but I disagree that you should remove it for rausch… if you get in a tight spot you can remove it, but its worth having up there especially for shitty weather. plus you don't have to have it right at the edge of the roof.. a few inches from the end will keep it from being the first thing to hit a tree.

Definitely safe to cook under. I guess if in bear country that could become a problem but highly unlikely.

I'll see how this one goes and how I like it and then maybe I'll get a small one for the rear

That's always an option it sticks out a little past the snorkel, so for the most part I can see where it's at compared to a tree or something

I had "L" brackets made for mine. 6" tall and am bolting them through the load bars. This way I can tuck it more. Mine stock out way on the side like yours and wasn't a fan of it.

I think I can push mine in more without getting another bracket but that's always an option

    Maybe I'll triple them up.

And yeah this thing is huge definitely should've went with a 55 off the back...... But I'm gonna have some sweet penn state tailgates

lol no way man. we get rain out here, 55" is like an umbrella :D

I do like the idea of a 55 off the back like yours, but for the side of a truck, especially a double cab, the 79" is way more useful

Agreed. 79 is a good fit.
I went with the ARB though. It was $140 less than the CVT version.
