I have no issues with it. Wheeled at Moab with the RTT on my Leer.

Not really. But then I'm not driving any crazy routes that would put me too off kilter either.

You do need to remember that the whole thing is tall and drive thru lanes are a challenge as are parking garages:eek:

Didn't have time to read all 24 pages, with the rooftop setup, how much weight can our roof hold and what kind of rack is needed? I have a shell, but this RTT would be a great setup for me! Sorry if asked and answered already!

Just a bunch of old crap
    - Enough for an RTT and a couple fatties, without problems
    - Thule or factory rack will suffice fine.

No doubt. An RTT can turn the occasional camper into the camping addict very quickly!

Also look at those Thule bed rack mounted systems. I see guys have those and they are easy to remove when you don't need it, but they have adjustable height settings so you can have a low rack or one that goes above the height of the cab (for a canoe or something large). Lots of mounting options for just about all RTT's. It's called the Xsporter if I'm not mistaken.

I love to camp, go out as often as I can, this would cause even more outings lol Can a shell without racks have them added after the fact? I like that they can mount on the Cab, up till this thread the only ones I seen were all mounted on cages and whatnot. Thank you for the info.

I'm fairly certain you can't add integrated racks to a camper shell afterwards unless you get the ladder-rack style that mounts to the bed rails and goes up and around the outside of the shell. Take a look at the first post and you will see the style I am referring to mounted over a Soft Topper. The campers with integrated racks usually have extra reinforcement laid into the fiberglass to support the weight.

Another piece to consider when choosing racks is the static vs. moving load ratings. You only need to support the weight of your tent while moving, but the static load rating should be the total weight of tent + people.

Thank you for the information, I saw some photos of what you are talking about. I like the idea of the over the roof setup, didn't know they could support that kind of load. It is amazing what these trucks can do!

Correct - the Leer 100XQ I have is reinforced where the rails are to allow for a larger payload.

Now I have to be confused about make and model because I see that Tepui just came out with a group buy. I was prepared to buy a CVT through the GB but now I have to consider both makes and a bunch of models. Assuming that the specs, prices and qualities are similar or the same, I'm inclined to go with the CVT because Bobby was really helpful in answering my questions at the Harrisburg Sports Show and I'd like to thank him by giving him my business but obviously if the Tepui is a lot cheaper or if I find something that I like better about one of the Tepui models, I'll definitely consider them too. Any thoughts about head to head comparisons? I'd presume that they're fairly similar, right?

For the most part, yes both companies are pretty similar. I've heard nothing but good things Customer Service wise from the both of them so if it just comes down to money, well thats your call.

I think people that have the CVT RTTs on top of their cab (or bed rack with the same height as the roof of the cab) AND have a 3" lift have to get the extension for the ladder. Then someone with a similar set up with a Tepui tent had no problems with their telescoping ladder

    I could be wrong though

There are basically two different styles. The telescoping ladder you see on Tepui has made its way to most of the other mfg's, including CVT.

This may be true for the older style ladder. Not the telescoping ladder.
