I've made plenty of prints from SmugMug using JPEG images and they turned out great

I do start from a RAW file then export to a JPEG. I haven't seen any issues in my prints.

The printer here is really nice, but takes a lot of getting used to. Things print darker than on screen for example. I had to really tweak my files until I figured out how to make them look good printed rather than on screen. They always looked a little overexposed on the screen in order to get them just right especially.

SM have some really good print partners. Nothing like the average print place. They care about printing-a lot more than many places to the point of making regular comparison prints. Pretty awesome if you ask me-and they guarantee your prints no questions asked.

well good to know a jpeg will print nice.

I'd still do tiff..just me though.

like a .wav vs .mp3 IMO.

its probably closer to the debate like..

    16bit/44.1khz vs 24 bit/96khz music.

very subtle..very few notice the difference. unlike .mp3 vs .wavs where actually more tend to notice if compared side by side.

Bay is the best. I went over there one day and got the unofficial tour. At the time, they were looking for some new machines and had a couple of million dollar plus machines setup in the back for testing. There were printing some metal stuff too. Amazing process. I would have thought your file would hit the printer, be printed and ship. If you check the "no color correction" it will but otherwise, someone looks at it and if it needs work, it will get some correction then be printed-Bay uses a pretty hands on approach and it shows in their work.

    m3bassman seriously man great photos!

Anyone shooting in really cold conditions have any tips for battery life?

I created a logo for myself last night and will be adding watermarks to my photos from now on.
