i have a 4 cyl base and cannot stand the horn on the truck... is it possible to just swap the horn of a ted tacoma, the one that actually sounds like a truck horn?

Yes. I work for a railroad, I'm sure I can get you a discount on a genuine locomotive horn.

Do the TRDs have a different horn from the base model?

The base model horn is a single horn that sounds pretty anemic.

    Bump, same question here...

Anything is possible with duct tape. Joking aside, yes you can. The horns on a Tacoma are rather, um, sad. There are options out there for you if you do want to change it though.
