I'm either getting the CVT Mount Shasta or the Tepui Autana. Both are essentially the same.

Mount Shasta is slightly lighter while the Autana is thinner when closed and wider when open.

I'm kind of leaning towards the CVT because it looks like the Tepui annex doesn't have door options on all 3 corners like CVT. Only a door right in front of the ladder.

Seems like shipping is less for with Tepui and it looks like some of the models are an inch shorter when closed. I'm still completely undecided but it's not a bad problem to have since both seem to be good options.

Just a guess but I'm thinking an inch shorter when closed means not as thick of a mattress, or the measurements are a little off from someone's website.

The thickness when closed depends on if you have anything else in it. I leave 2 pillows, 2 sleeping bags, and a blanket in it and I leave my annex attached. So if I removed all that my closed height could be an inch shorter, but who cares.

Tepui has the "non-collapsible" ladder available as an option.

I have a Tepui Ayers tent and it works very well. I want to go bigger eventually as the Ayers is mostly a good tent for a single person. No matter who the manufacturer is, I would suggest marking the tent floor dimensions out on the floor and laying down in those to see if they will provide you with the needed space. It would suck to get the wrong size tent, even if it was a great deal!

    crap bolted and welded together....
how the hell? explain this for me lol. The cover cant seal all the way the the annex still mounted. Atleast... with that track part it slides in. but then, your annex is only supported on 3 sides instead of 4.

Thank you for mentioning this. This is something we also recommend. Always make sure of the size you are buying to fit your needs and/or future needs.

I am glad you noticed. Apples for apples is always best. The fabric of the annex also. All of the bars on the interior of the tents have been upgraded also. Plus we have a few more features coming on them. Will have more photos and a better lay out at start of the group buy.

We also did have issues last year with about 40 telescoping ladders. We have chose to stick and go back with the original ladders that slide. The issues with telescoping is something we do not want as this is where a lot of weight goes. The dirt on them also creates problems. There will be better ones coming. They have not been around a long time and they are always getting better.
Thank you for the compliments. I love doing it and really enjoy meeting all of you.

I'm glad it will run to the 31st. I'm in a small quandary here. My company pays our bonus out each year around the end of March to the beginning of April. I won't know the amount until it is paid but I have a couple priorities I need to take care of first and then, if the bonus is enough, buy the Mt. Shasta with the extra. (This is supposed to be a *good* year too!) Some years it is paid in March, some in April. If it is April payout, I'm screwed because I'm not sure I'll have enough to accomplish all goals. I'm hoping for March! I *really want* the Shasta!
