    So I have a 2011 Tacoma 4d 4x4 long bed. TRD Sport
    I just installed the Ultimate Toytec 3'' lift kit with front coilovers
    and AAL in the rear. Also came with differential drop kit which I installed as well.

    So.... Now when I drive I can here a small hum,( whooo whooo whooo)
    from a stop all the way to about 50mph. when pressure is applied on either side( 40mph turns) it seems to quiet a little. After 55mph everythings seems fine, but Im not sure that I just cant hear the hum over wind noise.

    I can feel the hum in both the steering wheel and in the brake peddle, very slightly. I have been driving the truck for a while so I can feel every little difference. I have others drive the truck and tell me they feel and hear nothing.....

    Is this my paranoia or is there something I should take a look at.

    Put it in 4wd and see if it goes away. If it does its the diff needle bearing.

    OK so I drove it at about 35mph when the sound is loudest and put it into 4hi and the noise went away completely, feels much better. I only have 18k miles on the truck, how did the diff needle bearing go bad? (What is the diff needle bearing?)

    New question;
    while in 4hi I tried to turn around and when turning the steering wheel more than half way the truck almost comes to a stop on its own, like the front end is binding up, I got out and looked and nothing was touching, i put in neutral and cranked over to the left and it went fine, but when i put in drive( while still cranked over to the left) the truck didnt move until i began to straighten up the wheel. What do you think about this, In 2wd i can crank left to right while moving with no problem.

    I personally haven't installed the diff drop, as I only have a 2 inch leveling kit.

    But my 2 cents is that your 4WD is binding. I've also read that the diff drop on the 2nd gen tacomas is worthless. I'm wondering if removing the diff drop would help?

    So yes it is your needle bearing. They are just shitty and do that. Happens to both gens of trucks. Lift brings it out for the most part, but many stock trucks have the noise too I believe. You need to replace it with a bushing from ECGS. Fairly cheap for the tool and bushing.

    Search the forum for ECGS and read away.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...nt-differential-bearing-vibration-thread.html

    Now onto your next issue... it is not an issue. DO NOT try to make turns, especially tight turns on dry pavement in 4wd. You will bind up like that. Not good. Your wheels are pushing and pulling in different directions. Your wheels need to be able to slip in dirt/sand/mud/snow, etc.

    Yea don't turn tight in 4wd on pavement very bad. Only time you should is if its slippery i.e. mud, ice, rain. Maybe dirt? Not sure

    Then i out it on with 2 of the 1/16 shims and tried that, new worse sounds noise came, went down to the 1 of the 1/16 shims and tried that, a little better, ended up going back to just the diff kit, rides good , everyone else that's driven it says im paranoid...

    You are not paranoid though. Many have the same issue. And if you can get it to go away in 4wd, you know it is real. Get the bushing.
