I have a short bed, so I'll have about a foot of overhang off the back of the truck.

    Question for CVT/Owners?

The web site specs for the Bachelor and Shasta both show the following:
    Size: 56"W x 96"L x 50"Ht. (Open) and Size: 56"W x 48"L x 14" Ht. (Closed)

But the Shasta claims to have an extra 3' overhang for a larger annex. Is that space not available inside the RTT and only to the annex?

Correct. It is an overhang on the RTT that is open to the bottom. It's nice for having a door open when it is raining and such.

But, yeah, the tents are the same size inside.

I was thinking that should be up to Bobby...
yes. these two pics illustrate layout pretty well. where hte ladder ends is also the end of the tent platform, everything further out from the ladder is just walls/roof

If you plan on having extra people camping and need the space for sleeping then yes, the Shasta would be the way to go. The annex space would be enough for another 2 people to sleep in or it would be great for storing gear in bad weather or having a place to stand up to change clothes. Plus the annex on the Bachelor only has three walls and no floor or 4th wall against the vehicle so its really only useful for gear storage in bad weather.

Gotcha! Thanks for the clarification! I had to do a bunch of reading to understand all this tent lingo.:anonymous: Doubt I'm gonna be able to afford one come GB time but it's nice to have in mind when I can

    Haven't you seen Homer's, Ant's or Steve's tents?

Nope :anonymous: I have only met each of them once and it was before any of them had tents. They are all really nice guys! I've met Josh twice and he offered to set up his tent so I could get a look at it but it started raining so I told him to not bother.

Well you'll have to try to corner one of them before the GB so you can see for yourself - it makes a world of difference seeing the tents 1st hand.

I'm not really familiar with what CVT's relationship is with its dealers but was curious if it would be possible to take advantage of the group buy but to pick up the tent at a dealer to avoid shipping cost. Obviously I'm not looking to cheat the dealers out of their profit, just curious if this was possible.

I'm in Pennsylvania and see that there's a dealer in West Chester. I have to be down that way in a few weeks to pick up an ARE cap anyway and was just curious if it was an option.
