Hey all, almost new truck time, and I have questions about 5100 shocks, in their various configurations, and how they would compare to a stock truck's ride quality, especially on pot hole ridden, washboardy dirt roads (not suspension collapsing whoops).

1-- Stock springs, set to .85"
    2--Stock springs, set to 1.75"
3--Eibach (softest option), set to 0"

How would those compare to a stock suspension, or to a 2" spacer lift, which I have on my present truck (I know, I know)?

I was considering premium coilovers, but from what I've read, the amount of miles I put on would result in my having to rebuild them yearly, and I don't think I'm ready to get in to that...

    Thanks

your best bet would be 5100's with stock everything else. No lift and no aftermarket springs. That will give you a pretty plush ride.

Don't do a spacer lift lol. I did it and I regret it. I went to 5100's with eibach coils after and it made a massive difference. The front end is fantastic now and floats over bumps. I also got rid of the swaybar...didn't see the point in having it and it made the ride a little better.

Billies 5100's front set to 1.75 plus 1/4 taco lean spacer. Rears Billies plus AAL for a 2" leaf. 265/75/16 BGF's. Double din Kenwood stereo w/bluetooth and steering wheel controls and JBL speakers front & rear. Heavy duty battery. Billet grill blacked out. K&N air filter and MBRP cat-back. Just tuned it up new plugs and new front brake pads. Steel powered coated tailgate cap. Billet Grill painted black & factory roof racks. Oh new head lights thanks to toyota.

What setting did you set the 5100's at? I want to level my taco and everything I read says either .85 or 1.75 :notsure: which is it???

    Thanks

Everything I've read seems to say that at the .85" setting, the truck would be close to level.

I did 1.75 and ended up nose high. It was no big deal for me because I have rear airbags though. I just added a little more air to the rear.

Mine is at 1.75" and the ride improved going over bumps and on trails.

option #3...if i had to do it over that's the way i'd go,i'm at .85 on stock springs with tsb leaf pak, rides great..more sporty than stock.take into consideration your current rear setup,at 1.75 with the 3 leaf(2+overload) you'd probably be nose high.if you have tsb type pack(3+overload)you'd probably be level or un-noticeably nose high, some guys do 1.75 then add a 1 in. block to get the rake back, probably never have a minutes trouble with the blocks,i'm just not a fan.still, some do "add-a-leaf" to their current pak.there are plenty of options for the leaf springs, blocks, leaf, aftermarket spring pak.i wanted to do mine on an affordable basis.my truck is my daily driver with very limited dirt road use.i would have liked to spend tons of cash on a more sophisticated set-up(kings,fox,icon,ect)but i'm happy with what i chose.

I have mine at .085 with the eibachs...oh I forgot to mention I have the little 1/4" spacer plates on top too because the truck sat a little low in the front before I installed those. It looked ok, looked nice and aggressive actually but I like it better this way.
No change in ride quality either way though.

My rear end is all jacked up though, I have 2" blocks and some low quality icon shocks that a friend gave me off his Fj.
They are better than stock or anything else I have tried but the back end of the truck still is spine shattering if you hit a pothole or a bump.

I have my 5100s set at 0" in the front with stock shocks. It rides really nice but, I'm considering raising it. I have a leaf pack in the back that lifted it 1.5" so it's a little higher in the back. I'm worried of lifting the front because of potential vibration problems people have been having.

Has anyone have any vibrations at .85" or 1.75"?

I have vibs at 1.75" w blocks in the rear don't do that go with a new leaf pack to kill the vib situation. Last two things I need is a leaf pack and new rear shocks :) LR UCA's are on hand, OME springs, and spidertrax spacers are all sitting in the garage. :)

totally overrated...ive only had like three days in the whole 4 years of having my yota lifted that the vibe really bothered me and it was in really cold and dry conditions and it went away after those three days. It is not that bad and you forget about it pretty quick. I think some are pickier than others, especially if you listen to the radio and have an exhaust that makes some noise. It is not too bad and I would definitely not get rid of my lift because of it.

I have a leaf pack on mine so do you think I will have vibs at 1.75"? I believe the leaf pack gave me a 1.5" lift.

I have 5100's set a zero with OME 884 coils. The ride is significantly better than stock. Firm but not harsh.
