    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
My play quad is a Blade MQX... think it was around 100 bucks, but is now discontinued (although parts are still available). You can find them on ebay or RCGroups.com pretty cheap now-a-days.

For new, check out the Helimax 1SQ V-CAM - it's smaller than the quad but also has a camera for fun... (I know you said you didn't want a camera, but at this price it's wicked cheap to get one ) :D

they also make the standard 1-SQ sans camera. i actually take the camera off of my v-cam (only 4 screws and a plug), when i have no need to film/take pictures. even though the camera weights about the same as a nickle, it's incredible how much more responsive it is. and the standard is only like $80, whereas the v-cam is $140 i believe.

this was shot with the v-cam. i would NOT recomend going this high with it though, as i pretty much couldn't see it anymore. and the wind will take that thing real quick. not bad for something with the diamiter of a CD though

No but really these thing are pretty cool I wouldn't mind getting something like this. I always wanted a copter but didn't want to spend all the cash on an expensive learning curve. The only RC thing I have is a Nitro Monster truck pretty fun for a while will do 65mph.

i prefer local hobby shops. ods are you'll break stuff now and then, so it's good to buy one from a local place that also keeps parts for it in stock. keeps you from having to order online and wait a week for a $2 propeller to come in the mail

ya best is local hobby shops, but more than likely they rape you up the ass in price... I usually make sure my local shop stocks parts, but then order everything online and keep the hobby shop in my back pocket for emergency spares.

Kinda sucks for the hobby shop...

you'd be good with a quad since they're less complex than a traditional heli... start small and then go big :)
