enough to full up 3 pages of 11''x17'' graph paper with decently small hand writing. and that was just the initial areas above the curves, before getting the actual volume.

technology would have been great. had we tossed our laser scanners out there after taking a lot of trees down), it could generate a 3d grid with points every inch. extremely precise measurement capabilities from that.

 

I can map it with the trees there... it's up to you to use the data...



That's a good question you pose... Typically what I do involves stabilized georectified imagery combined with data from laser altimeters to read ground level and produce the 3d model.

I can also do it via dGPS with dual freq GPS as long as a survey base station is used... I believe...

it's nice when you get out of school and can pick and choose how to solve a problem, instead of having to use the exact process that the professor specifies.

you should see our laser scanning setups. we can toss 5 of the scanners in fairly large area, and an hour later, have a full 3d model, with detail down to the texture of the ground that the scanners are sitting on.

 

Does anyone have pictures of their big3 upgrade? When you did your big 3 did you replace the factory wires or did you leave them?
