    my wife is learning to drive my 09 tacoma std shift truck. after repeated enginge stalls while practising uphill take offs, the check engine light comes on. how do i reset it?

    Depends on why- Go to an Autozone or PepBoys and have the code read- If it's something that makes sense from a lot of stalls then they might clear it....they might not.

    Better to err on the side of caution IMO- Check it insted of just trying to force clear it...Could be an actual problem...

    X2. The CEL should clear itself if the engine is stalled. If it stays on after that, something may be amiss.

    Buy yourself a simple $30 code reader. They're handy to have and should be a staple tool in any garage.
