I was wondering if it was possible to make a taco transfer case have 2lo.
Since i know of the old FJ60s (friend has one) that you can remove a bracket or something and it allows the cruiser to have 2lo (besides going into 4lo and leaving the hubs unlocked...i can do that already).

Is there anything similar that is possible on a taco?

Yes, if you have manual locking front hubs. Just put it in 4L and don't lock the hubs. Is very good for creeping down hills.

yes i do that when i dont feel like i need 4wd but i need low range. I was just curious if there was a land cruiser-type mod where you could remove a bracket or something and the transfer case stick would just put the truck into 2lo.

its fine the way it is though.

4 lo with unlocked front hubs works for me just fine. Don't really see a need in changing anything when it is that simple.

yeah it works. I was just wondering if there was a mod like a 60 series land cruiser where there is 2lo (cruisers also have manual hubs so 4lo and unlocked hubs would work for them as well)

No. TRD off-roads come with lockers but anyone one this site with a 2 gen tacoma has aftermarket hubs if they lock.

until 2001, all base model (non SR5) 4wd tacos had manual locking hubs, like mine does. when the 01-04s came out, toyota changed to all auto hubs i believe. so yes, any post '00 taco with manual hubs has aftermarket ones.
