Finally figured out how and where to wire my winch control box. I am gathering materials and currently cutting and soldering wires and connectors. I will take some pictures and post up soon.

So I am finally getting around to installing my winch control box. I ended up finding a great spot on the front radiator core support. Basically I will just need to pop the hood to connect my battery quick disconnect and attach the winch controller to the control box and then I can close the hood again.

Below are the pictures of my modifacation to the control box with longer cables and a battery quick disconnect. Tomorrow is the install as I got rained out today.

    Standard Winch control box cables:
    IMG_1390_ce203633b6cb44463a679c86215fc7cd8a792d49.jpg
    IMG_1392_f6b06997004263a208c90642deee69842c7aa38c.jpg

    Winch control box cable exertions:
    IMG_1388_aca45cd92b62fdeb8794f7294e52852540e13ae5.jpg

This was taken before I put heat shrink over these connectors. These are grade 8 nuts and bolts with red lock tight and I tightened the shit out of them.
    IMG_1393_ea48c359fef45f5bde545edeb5cd21d38979e92f.jpg

    Battery end of power cables:

    IMG_1396_c43953466b52b0560c715dc62fcf45923d6b9261.jpg

The ground is attached to the winch and will be inserted in connector once control box was installed.

    IMG_1399_cd30e6a7663c753454de48792c998e0ae2fc6034.jpg

All connecters and bolts are heavy duty, high current ones. Cables are high current 2 gauge welding cable. All connections are double shrink wrapped with the inner layer a thick high voltage shrink wrap and the outer layer overlaps and seals in the inner layer. Also all the shrink wrap has petrolum jelly to help keep water out.

All the connectors are both soldered and crimped in so there is practically no chance of the cables pulling loose.

Tomorrow will be pictures of the actual install. Then I will strip out the cable wire and my safety orange viking synthetic line will go in.

great work, I need to do something like that with mine, as I worry about it malfunctioning and not having a quick way to disconnect it from power.

Yea, it really was a pain in the ass finding all the supplies. I suggest ACE hardware, skip the big box stores.

Your truck is a beast man! Are you running wheel spacers with those double standards because they dont clear the caliper or just for the wider stance?

Man, I haven't updated this in forever. I think its about time...

Well in this last year, I have been super busy. For the 1st time in 17 years I am without a motorcycle, I sold them to fund other projects since I don't ride or race anymore. I bought my first Jeep, a 2004 TJ Unlimited (LJ) thats locked, lifted, on 35" beadlocked MTR's. I got married to am amazing women with an amazing daughter on the side of Bell Rock in Sedona AZ during a blizzard. We moved across town and bought a 2nd house for my family in Tucson AZ and had a 30'x34' garage built. My wife got became pregnant with my first child, a baby boy. Finally got my house in Vancouver Wa Rented after a long drawn out bit of Drama. Got a promotion and a huge raise at work, I am now the Senior Field Service Engineer in the United States for the program I work. I learned to reload my own ammunition.

The list can/will go on and on. Its been an amazing year and an amazingly busy one to boot. Cant wait to see what 2014 has in store for me. Hopefully more time spent with family and friends.

So I got myself some new shoes for my ride. My 285/75R16 Fierce Attitudes were really worn out and it was time for a change. I picked up a set of 255/85 R16 Cooper ST Maxx. I really like these, a very aggressive AT but not as aggressive as an MT. Plus they are made on the STT carcass so they are very tough. Tomorrow I get my alignment done.

So far just driving around today I really like them. The truck is smoother and quieter already.

I will give you an off road report next week when we take them and the truck up to Sedona and run Broken Arrow.
