Superwinch won't fit! Need guidance!

I have a CBI Moab front plate bumper and I just received my Superwinch 9.5iSR. Well it turns out because the solenoid is mounted on the top of the winch, it's too tall and won't fit.

Has anyone done a relocated for the solenoid for this particular model winch? If so, guidance would be much appreciated!

Unfortunately the solenoid in mounted on top in such a way that it's housing actually holds the winch together. Cant remove it. May just have to revert to a saw or sell it...

 

Jon's problem is that the 9.5i SR doesn't have a relocatable solenoid. The solenoid is housed in an aluminum housing. That housing takes the place of the typical bars that hold the sides of the winch square.

 

I wonder if I can get two pieces of stainless rod, drill and tap it and make my own bars? That may work… PITA but may work.

 

Burn the truck, keep the winch. Lol

 

That would be a job for the machine shop. I say trim the bottom of the grill. That's a piece that you can easily replace if you ever take the winch out.

 

I was just talking with Nathan at CBI this morning about this. They recommend not using winches with integrated solenoid with this bumper due to the fit. I don't know what year your truck is but he was telling me that on the 12-14 tacomas you can remove or modify the lower grill support to make it fit. I don't know if the same thing will work on the 2005-2011

 

Well I managed to get it in. Had to remove the support brace that goes from one head light to the other for the grill. I then removed a portion from the bottom of the grill. Fits now, even if it's a bit snug.

Should have tried to rotate it 90 degrees but if it fits it's all good.
