That would be great if we could pick up from the dealer! Maybe a few of us East Coast guys could work together to make it happen?

I think the whole dealer pick up thing came up last year too - I don't think it cut out the shipping costs since the tents still have to get from point A to point B and it costs the same to send it to a dealer as it would to send it direct to the buyer. There was reduced shipping if several tents were sent to the same location though

Yes, I should have been clearer in my post. If the dealer is centrally located, then some of us could split shipping to the dealer maybe? Just a thought.

    Cheers, James

I'm on the fence between the Tepui GB and the CVT but I'd definitely be interested if there were several in my area that wanted to ship them to a dealer or to a local hub of some sort where we could all pick them up and save some cash. That said, it doesn't make a ton of sense to waste $80 in gas and take a day off work to save $100. :)

Thanks all as this really clears up a couple other questions. Shasta is clearly the better choice for my needs. I'm hoping I can pull this off. The trailer build for this is going to be fun and innovative. ;)

The Autana annex has a door in front of the ladder, a screen full height window on the two sides and the back wall of the annex completely zips out to allow access to your truck or trailer.

I'm willing to bet that the CVT discount will be better than the tepui discount.

I hate to say it, but I may become a CVT customer. It all depends on the costs and the discount. After I do the math I'll figure out which GB works best for my situation.

So just to clarify .... on the tents with the "overhang" .... is the inside dimension length 96 inches or is it less? If the platform is 48 a side I would think the tent interior length would be 96. Or is the overhang in addition to the 96? Say 115 inch total length perhaps (just pulled that number outta my butt).

the mt Shasta and bachelor are EXACTLY the same size when open. 96x55'' as in the area you sleep in. The Shasta only adds the over hang over the ladder.

Hello, I have been viewing this thread for some time now and am interested in the group buy coming up. Can someone please explain the process? I assume we put a certain non-refundable amount down and then pay the rest prior to delivery once the units are shipped from China, but I am not sure. Also, I currently do not have a Tacoma, but will be getting one in the summer. Does that matter to make this purchase?

    Thank you for your time.

Not sure what the particulars are going to be this year but usually how a group buy works is this: X number of purchases are needed to get X discount. There is usually a start date and an end date to get your order placed - Members call in their orders with credit card info during this time. The vendor (CVT) holds onto this info until there are X number of orders received or until the group buy date passes. Once there are X number of orders received everyone is charged and the tents will be shipped out.
Tacoma ownership doesn't matter, last years group buy was open to several forums, not just TW

So, what do you guys think the time frame will be for shipping them to those who get in on the next group buy? Any worries about it taking as long as last year?

i doubt that. Since bobby at CVT has this on his to do list. Not like last year where it was dumped on him, and he didnt have the stock of tents on hand.
