Thanks! Yes, it was a complete wreck when I found it at a garage sale in Mississippi. Still a good bit of work to do on it, but it is camp-able, and we've really enjoyed it. The Taco pulls it great, too. These older ones don't weigh nearly as much.

Here's a pic of bringing her home...

That's really cool. I have restored several 50's-70's model Jeeps and would LOVE to restore an Airstream like that. It's about the only way a commoner can afford one!!!

    Maybe one day...

I pulled this 6 or 7 times last year, this pic is from my trip to Harrisonburg, and then Potts Mtn jeep trail, VA. I've got firestone ride rite airbags.

This isn't my truck, but it is a Tacoma pulling a float at the Mardi Gras parada last night.

How in the world are you guys pulling ~6K pounds without any trouble? Is it really flat where you are?

I've towed a med-large popup camper all over the southeast, and some of the roads in the mountains are tough. I-26 and I-40 in western NC and Tennessee come to mind. And the roads in/around Cherokee, NC.... I would be scared to pull anything over 4K pounds in those areas.

I trust my setup. Prodigy P3 brake controller, Reese dual cam WD hitch, factory tow package and the trailer has a newer set up with wide stance axles to help stability. I also load the trailer almost balanced. The taco does work but I dont beat on it either. Take your time and you should have no problem. And the roads are not all flat on our trips, haha. We head into southern ohio and western pa and east indiana. Some routes have good long grades. Next time around, I would get a bigger tow vehicle just so I can carry more crap. My last trip of the season pulling the trailer loaded and the kids in the truck I got 10 mpg. Actual milage to fill up calculation. I know diesels pulling same load that dont get that.

    Same here... Nice trailer!
I try to keep it a little less than 6k, but still handles well even when I get up to 6. 24ft trailer, dry weight is 4300.

Yea, 6k is fully loaded for the long dry camping trips. I try to camp with full hookups but that tends to not happen as much as I would like.

I purchased this 1999 Taco/TRD from my elderly neighbor a couple of years ago and added a 2013 Travel-Lite I-18 travel trailer recently. The trailer is 1750 lbs empty - 3200 lbs loaded. Just about done with the hitch, wiring, trans cooler, etc, etc. It seemed to tow around town fine (empty and without the weight distribution bars on. Wish me luck!

Yes I do have to slow down when heading up hills, but most of the driving is flat. I guess I just keep in mind that towing 6k with a stock V6 will be a bit of a struggle sometimes. If you worry about the gas mileage, then you need a bigger truck. It ain't no diesel but it does great for what it is.
