Hello, everyone. Just registered to the forum today. I am currently deployed in Afghanistan. I have wanted a Tacoma for around 9 years now. My first vehicle was a dodge caravan, bought from my parents :( My first new vehicle was a Mazda3. I bought the three 'cause I was in college and communited about 3 hours a day and couldn't afford to be driving a pickup that much.

Now I nearly have the 3 paid off and am definately going to get a Taco when I get back state side. Don't know yet if I'll keep the 3, probably not.

I'm wanting to buy used if I can, but I want a pretty specific configuration.

I'll try to rank these in order of importance to me:
    4X4
    V6
    Double Cab
    2nd Gen
    White
    Less than 75000 miles

I eventually want to add the following mods:
    Truck cap/camper shell
    3" lift
    33" All Terrain Tires
White steel front bumper w/ brush guard
    White steel rear bumper

Any idea on how much I should expect to pay for the truck itself (not including mods, or trade in value of the 3)?

I will probably do a lot of wheeling, nothing really extreme though, any thoughts on 3" lift vs 6". I'm pretty set on 33" max for the tires.

I know this is asking a lot in a single post and I'm new to the forum, but I love Tacos. Tacomas too! Sorry had to say it...

    Welcome to TW

Just scour autotrader / ebay / cars.com so you have an idea of what you will need to pay in your area.

Got the Mazda paid off!! Good feeling. Now I've got my sights on a new TRD Access cab; decided not to buy used. Can't wait to get back. Should be back stateside by the end of JAN. For now, I sit and I wait.:annoyed:

Thank you for your service! Second welcome to TW!

Once you get back just check the local listings, dealers, and places like that to get an idea what they are selling for in your area. It shouldn't be too hard to find something that meets your needs.

    Safe travels my friend

    Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Yeah, I decided to go new cause I'm way too picky with the configuration I want. I figure, if you're ever going to be picky, buying a new ride is as good a time as any.

That is a pretty badass ride.

Still wrestling with the idea of getting a crew cab and short bed versus an access cab with the long bed; don't want the longer wheelbase that comes with both, lol. I rarely have more than one passenger, I'm into carpentry and I'd like to be able to comfortably camp out in the bed so I think the benefits of the long bed outweigh those of the crew cab; for me anyway.

    Thanks for the spot tho.

Yeah, I don't think I have the patience to wait for the paint to dry. I just bought a super white grill on ebay. Will probably sell chrome grill too. Hoping net won't be much more than $50.

Next immediate need is wheels; looking at pro comp 5129s. Trying to decide between 16 inch and running stock rubber til its gone, or 17 inch and new rubber. Big price difference; I know. Talk me into it!

BTW, where do I start a build thread?
