Understand Toyota is concentrating on the newly revamped Tundra and because of the Tacoma only be made in Texas, they're hard to find.

Just got an email from the dealer telling me that it'll be 2 - 6 mos. for the truck I want. It's an ACOR in MG. These things are like gold here I think, you know they make them but they're hard to find. I've been searching everywhere I can from the Pacific Coast to Denver with no luck. Seems the quad door is plentiful but I don't want that. Hate to give up my 6ft bed.

I currently have an '09 PreRunner ACOR MG and love it, just need 4 wheel drive. No, I'm not going to invest in the retrofit 4x4. Also found out it can't come with the Entune App/Navi radio, but have read here where that won't be an issue along with a new rearview mirror install with temp and compass (I really like that). Oh well, guess I'll keep my '09 for awhile longer.

You didn't say if you wanted a manual or automatic, but I did a quick query of Toyota's inventory in Los Angeles using their site just for grins and there's an ACOR MG there with an automatic and a couple of manuals in other colors. Might be worth a look if you're really serious.

If you're talking about this site http://www.toyota.com/search-invent.../2014/tacoma/Access Cab/7554/ED,OC/01G3///asc I did the same thing in my area and it says there's trucks, but the dealers don't have them, so, who's kidding who. If you have a site I can check, post it and I'll do the rest. I've had three dealers in my area go into their Toyota order site and there's none in CA as of last week. Oh, looking for AT. Yes, I'm serious. I can sell my truck on my own if needed.

My buddy is a GM of a dealer here and he told me that site is never accurate. It is really more about getting you in the showroom so they can talk you into getting something close to what you want. I ordered my truck Jan 23rd and was told I should have it the first week of March. I ordered a dbl cab TRD Sport with Entune Premium w/JBL.

I used Toyota's inventory site for three months following the inventory of new Tacomas in the Pacific Northwest and it was accurate for me. It doesn't tell you which dealer has the vehicle, but after locating the prospects it was a simple matter to visit the individual dealer's sites in the area until I located the exact trucks. I found several prospects in this way and followed the one I eventually bought until contacting the dealer directly and making the sale. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Note: The Tijuana, Mexico plant only builds V6 Double Cabs. All Access Cabs are built in San Antonio, TX. (This from Wikipedia.)

I went into the dealer around thanksgiving looking for the new SR package. Nobody knew anything about it, then told me Toyota isn't building that package for New England. Long story short, they placed the order 12-1-13 for my 2013 DCSB SR 4x4. Toyota accepted the order, it was built 1-2-14 and I took delivery 1-16-14.

I am the GM of a Toyota store ( for the next two weeks / retiring ). You need a new sales person. In well under that time you can get it ordered the way you want it and built (built to Toyota specs). If the salesperson understands the term "Boss Change" fine. If not get the fleet mgr or sales manager. If it is in the lit or computer you can get it even with the words: we don't order it that way. This is not overnight and if price hike, you get it but in 8 to 12 or so weeks you get your truck.

True that on dealers motivated to sell what's already built!

I went in two dealers, having done the research, having owned my 1st TRD for the past 10+ years (she was bought back due to frame disappearing), and having been around the block, I went in to order.

I wanted the SR spruce mica, v6, double cab (I have 2 little boys), 6 speed stick, tow pkg & swap the black alloys for the silver.

    NOT Happening.
Both dealers said I couldn't swap out the wheels...even though I need it built regardless.

So at the 2nd dealer I walked out having ordered...

My spruce mica SR5 double cab, 6 speed - V6 with the silver alloys, tow pkg & all weather mats.
New England kills the cloth mats...more like my boots!

What's with the huge range in deposit to order from dealer to dealer?
I got $200 from one dealer, $500 from an other, $1000 from a 3rd & 4th and ended up giving $2000 to the dealer I ordered from.

Should get delivery 2nd or 3rd week in March!!! CANT F'N WAIT!!!

    Dude that's awesome!!!

Same with me...no dealer knew what I was talking about, the SR pkg, their code: SN.

Did you stay with the black alloys? I wanted to swap for the silver alloys from TRD pkg but dealers said it was impossible.
Then they dropped the price so much on the SR5 pkg, and made the wheel swap etc... I ordered.

Should take delivery mid March of my spruce mica double cab, SR5-V6 with 6 speed stick & tow.

I did keep the black alloys. It was kinda sad when I went in. I had to show them the SR package in the e brochure I had on my phone. Almost settled on the SR5 too but hate chrome. So I waited for the SR DCSB 4x4 6 speed and tow ImageUploadedByTapatalk1392297207.504010.jpg

    That SR looks awesome!

    What interior? Like the SR5?

Does it have backup camera? Compass/temp? Bluetooth/XM?

    TIA

Looks like this thread has been jacked. lol. Sorry OP. Thanks, it looks even better now that I debadged it. Need to get better tires. The stock tires look wimpy. I believe the interior is the same as the SR5. I have the base radio, it's touchscreen, Bluetooth, non Entune. No back up camera. No XM. Had I upgraded to the Entune plus I would've had those. The truck is wired for the camera all the way up to the blank in the tailgate handle so adding one should be easy.

First off, congratulations on your retirement! I've been retired a year and it's great!

I'm headed to my local dealer Monday for the door lock recall and will find someone who "may know" what they're doing. I've learned a lot on this forum just since joining last month. More than the dealer(s) told me. I love my '09 and just need to move to 4x4 and now will tell them I'd like the Entune Premium using the FRS "Boss Change" code. If they can't do it, I'm off to the dealer I bought my '09 from and go from there.

I'd really like to get what I want, within reason, and will work with them but won't settle just because they don't want to put forth effort or as others have stated, "settle for something on their lot". My biggest problem has been contacting several (5) dealers by email, phone and NONE, I mean NONE, return any response. Who should I pay my commission to?

I'll let you know progress. If there's such a thing.

    Thanks for the reply.

So, adding entune radio, gives backup camera? How about compass/temp?

Not a problem (no thin skin here). Love when others can chime in and I agree, that truck looks AWESOME! If I were looking for a 4 door...hmmmmm....nope staying with the AC.

Good luck, OP! I had a similar situation looking for a 4x4 TRD OR double cab. Actually just got an email this morning from one dealer saying that he cannot get me the truck in white with navigation because Toyota doesn't make it anymore and all the ones out there right now are sold.

I find that hard to believe, has anyone else heard of this? I don't believe that in February of 2014, Toyota would decide to stop making a 2014 model with navigation (unless it was found to spontaneously combust or something).

Fortunately, about 15 minutes later I got an email from a closer, cheaper dealer who said the truck he has for me was expected to arrive next Monday, but is now coming in tomorrow!
