Was the entire playa wet or just certain spots? When I was out there there was just one strip of mud that I crossed twice, will definitely avoid that next trip, but we have gotten some weather since I was out there. What were the conditions like for you?

 

Just certain spots, it was tricky since the top layer was dry. First day it was non stop wind, my RTT got put to the test during that for sure. Second day it wasn't too bad just overcast. But it did rain that night. Third day it was party sunny and clear finally. But it made the entire playa a giant muck from the rain the night before. I have video of us driving out flinging crap everywhere. I hope to go back when there are more favorable weather conditions so we can spend more time exploring the surrounding areas.

 

If it was me, I would do the rtt from cascadia vehicle tents during their group buy in march, then upgrade the suspension. That way you can enjoy the tent and figure out how you want it setup with your gear. Then, have your suspension customlized for the weight and the type you plan to do.
I bought the Mt. McKinnley and mounted on top of a 5x8 enclosed trailer. I have been building storage in the trailer, but I have been able to use my rtt during the build. The trailer isn't done, but you can see some pictures of it on the CVT group buy thread.

 

I never thought of it that way... I was worried about adding the weight before the suspension but that would give me a good idea of what I needed to get from there.

 

Has anyone figured out a way to "lock" down your trasharoo somehow so it doesn't get stolen! I wanna run mine 24/7 but I'm nervous someone might snatch it..

 

You can get creative but in the end someone can just cut the straps. If someone wants to steal something, they will steal ot

I haven't taken mine off since my last trip.. but same deal up here. Unless I'm in Bellingham, I really don't have to worry about it. Just more of a laziness thing as opposed to trying to make a statement..

 

I have had a fire extinguisher in my bed for 2+ years now with just a quick strap to release it. No lock. Has not been touched (knock on wood). Some things are just not worth worrying about. And really... who the F*** want to steal your trash bag really.

 

My thoughts exactly.. Honestly if someone's desperate enough to steal it; they've got some bigger issues going on.

Found that the mesh pockets hold a full growler of IPA pretty well..

 

OK now you have created a reason to steal it. Crap. Now I need to go put a cable and lock on mine.

That's one of the only ways I can justify spending money on better parts to the wifey. Somethings broken = upgrade. Truck will only go so far into the muck before getting stuck = winch (and I hope rear locker). Family week long camping trips into the middle of nowhere = bedrack and RTT.

I didn't give her any input for the lift and wheels In turn she doesn't bug me when the body panels get smashed up. That's a good woman.
