I found a thread where a guy mentions making a u shaped bracket and then bolting the sides into the stock bezel mount holes and then drilling a center hole to mount the rigid bar in on the stock mount. Allows you to aim it as well and in theory would be fairly secure.

I would think so. Need a day or two to be able to pull the bumper off and then measure and source the materials.

Supposedly stock fogs use the same Deutsch connectors.

9 inches up in Stafford County. Don't have a pic of the Tacoma though. In my infinite wisdom last night I went out and bent my front bumper up sliding into some bushes  Tonight I'll figure out if I can bend it back into shape

With work this weekend and next weekend and no rack, I think I'm calling off my birthday trip.

    Try again in May.

Anyone know where I can get a front bumper for my first gen? Local Stafford/Fredericksburg junkyards almost never have Tacomas

    What kind of lift?

Honestly came close to saying FU to the taco and buying a used Sportsmobile today. Guy in Hampton is selling his 07 E350 full pop top 4x4 conversion for 52K Thing has seen basically no offroading ever and he only drives it to "expo" events. Basically a glorified glamper.

Being a 2nd gen Runner, the options are pretty limited:
-- 2" ball joint spacers in the front versus bigger/stiffer torsion bars - I can always put the upgraded torsion bars in if the front starts sagging.
-- Rear gets a set of FJ80 rear coils... suppose to yield about 3 - 3.5" of lift and still give a nice ride and lots of flex. Should be just about right after I get rear storage drawers, fridge and loads of other stuff back there.
Also, will get rid of the 4Runner stock sag look (2nd gens rear wheel well is 1.5" lower than the front - giving a false sag)
-- New shocks already ordered as well

    Still yet to order:
    - a panhard bar drop bracket (might build it myself)
    - SS extended brake lines.

Will build my own LSPV bracket.
