Holy smokes. Did EVERYONE on the road in Massachusetts go full retard this afternoon? From the idiot kid who passed me on 114 in a POS Chevy S10 going about 60 at 4PM in pretty much whiteout conditions to the idiot woman who was backing down the low grade hill she could not make it up in her BMW X5 and NOT looking behind her (she almost backed right into me), people were just stupid.

This is New England. We are supposed to know how to handle this weather!

On a positive note, my Taco with new Toyo AT2 was unstoppable in the storm, driving at a conservative but steady pace. And I noticed several other second gens having little problem getting where they needed to go.

Hope everyone made it through the stupidity, traffic, and bad weather unscathed today.

I left work at 4:30 and cruised home no problem. I was doing 70 down 95, no traffic, roads were clear, just wet. The back roads were hairy in spots but other than that, no big deal at all. I guess western MA is a different story.

Single stage isn't self propelled, dual stage is. The single stage ones tend to have much smaller engines and don't do well clearing deep or heavy snow. Dual stage ones tend to have larger inlets and will handle bigger storms much easier.

Interesting...just how MTD makes the low end Toro/John Deere lawn tractors, they also make Craftsmans snowblowers, because that's identical to my 22" Craftsman unit.

I'm definitely going to upgrade to a larger, more powerful one in the not too distant future, but for now, it works.

single stage isn't self propelled is only partially true. I have a toro power clear 221QR and when the paddles hit the ground they propel the sucker so much I'm practically running after it...

I guess saying there's no drive to the wheels would have been a better way to put it.

Yeah yeah, I just like how they look (ducks and covers). Saw one coupled with an ARB bumper and liked it.

    Why...?

There are real skids that look so much better than the TRD one.

Personal preference. Won't wheel it hard enough to need anything right now anyways. 10 years from now when the truck's banged up, sure, but right now I'm trying to keep it decent looking.

It's not like I'm going to pay hundreds for the TRD, I'd only jump on one if I saw one reasonably cheap. It's like my light bar, it's not for everyone.

Exactly. Once I decide to have some fun thrashing it in the woods, then I'll protect it.

The most fun I ever had in a vehicle was in my old Toyota because I wasn't concerned about bumps/scratches/etc.

This one I'll park in Siberia in a parking lot and walk 5 minutes (even in the cold) to prevent the inevitable door dings.

That's what slider's are for. The only door dings around my truck are the one's that the other people will get to their own car if they aren't careful.
