Installed my bamf bpv bracket today. What a big difference. Had too lower the arm because in a panic stop I locked up the rear end a little too much pressure, lol.

Anyone have any pointers on choosing the right fuse for my blue sea box, I'm new to all this, I'm going to run a cb, at least 4 lights maybe a winch in the future, any pointers would be awesome!!
Also do I have to run a breaker along with it? If so whats a good one to order?

You have to know how many amps each of those devices draw to choose the fuse size. I think I have a 2.5 amp fuse on my CB but don't quote me on that.

If you don't know how many amps your lights draw but know the wattage, divide the wattage by the voltage it'll be getting to find the amp draw. In this case 12 volts, but I usually use 10 to account for any voltage drop during startup or if you have a dying battery.

A breaker only protects the wiring from the battery to the fuse block. So you want it as close to the battery as possible. When choosing a breaker I look to see how many amps the cable can handle and choose either the same amperage for the breaker, or a little smaller. I don't have a breaker in my truck, but I like the idea of being able to flip it off to shut everything down if you wanted to.

This sounds really dumb but how do I even find out the wattage? A volt meter?

My truck has averaged about 12,000 miles per year. So it hasn't been terrible. It's not the motor or transmission that I don't like having that many miles. It's everything else! Haha

A winch is direct connect to the battery, IIRC. I added a 12k winch to an F-250 squad truck; and at max load, it would draw 440 Amps.

Run wire that can handle 125% or higher than the max load your devices will draw, and fuse for a only a little higher than what the device needs. You want your fuse to be at around 75% load or less; any higher, and it might fail (slow blow) due to over heating.

A breaker is a fantastic idea for main supply to the fuse block. Or a large capacity fuse. Definitely need one or the other.

Oh thats right, you are planning to reinforce that frame too. Makes sense. It just seemed like they might be a little too long at 9.75", and have too much travel for the stock location? Maybe taller bumpstops will keep them from overcompressing.

If you have the 12 position blue sea fuse block the maximum amps it is rated for is 100 amps. This means all of the items you have plugged into it should not total up to more than that. I used a 100 amp circuit breaker between the positive post on the battery and the fuse block.

As was mentioned, winches need to go directly to the battery. They draw way to many amps to attach to that fuse block.
