what color was your grill surround before? and did you also paint the trim around the corner lamps? looks clean. I want to paint mine black, but im almost thinking I should buy new corner lights first.

Thanks! Grill was chrome before along with the trim around the corner lamps. A lot of taping and sanding and used Krylon gloss black. Took about 2 days, but worth it I think

So I did some searching and since I don't feel like it's worth posting a thread for, I may as well ask you guys because this thread sees a ton of traffic.

Truck is a 2001 v6 manual with 185,XXX on it. Tried going up my steep snow covered driveway last night in 4-hi (don't ask me why I didn't go in 4 lo) made it almost all the way up. Tried to struggle with it and thought I was spinning tires but fairly sure the clutch was slipping. Smoke started flooding the cab and of course the classic burnt clutch smell. Had something similar happen in my old Hyundai, let it sit for a while and it was fine.

Truck sat over night, still smelt clutch on start up and periodically through out my hour drive to work. Shifts up fine, shifts down fine when I rev match, but regular down shifts without rev matches gives a bit of a grindy feel. I never had that feel before, if anything it would lurch when down shifting but never a grindy feel. How fucked am I from your clutch still has life bro to dude your fucked and dropping a grand this month.

you can eek out quite a ways on an old clutch if you baby it. It has nothing to do with grinding gears, it has to do with being able to handle a load. If you baby the skinny pedal and not carry any loads, you can put off the clutch job for awhile but the sooner you get a fresh one in there the happier you'll be.

Yeah I mean it doesn't "grind" like that painful grinding noise you hear if you can't get the gear in, it's more of a feel. I'm probably just freaking myself out but the fact that I smelled it the entire way to work worried me.

Pretty much stock with some crap welded to it.
i think its good to kind of have some sort of feeling of the gear actually going into place instead of it just kind of floating into gear.

Clutches are standard wear items. Over the 24 years I've been driving, I average 100k miles per clutch. I don't know your driving habits but if you have 185k miles on the original clutch, it is probably about that time for a replacement. Like I said before you can probably get by for a bit but the sooner the better. Especially if you want to minimize wear to the flywheel.

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.
if its the OEM on 185k and you just cooked the shit out of it...not much i bet..haha

if you can do it yourself it won't cost much and takes about 6-8 hours to do.
