Yes, I installed it on my truck over a year ago. There are threads on it and other CAI that say everything from awesome to a waste of $$$ on NA motors. Well, I love it and my truck is NA. There is a small boost in performance and it sounds badass. I would do it again if I got another.

x2 I have mine and I like the added perks of it. Way better than the K&N I had.

dont do it.... stock air intake is already a CAI... you gain no power or mpg from an aftermarket intake...

Just my .02, but i'd spend my money on other mods first. Intakes just seem to make more noise than anything else. The small benefits aren't worth the money to me. But to each their own.

Look at the dyno charts in the performance section of the site. It's pretty clear there is a very very minimal gain if any. The stock air intake is already a CAI.

The sound is cool but I'd rather get sliders or something for the price

Just installed a K&N CAI system on my 2014 V6 & have a possible issue. Every time I shut the motor off I hear a loud noise coming from the secondary air pump. I contacted K&N tech guys and one said that the computer had to adjust, well that was 1200 miles ago. The next tech said the noise is normal, caused by the back pressure releasing ! He stated that he has heard this pump noise & I will have to live with it. The truck runs great, sounds nice, no check engine light, just this awful noise. Anyone have any inputs..........seriously thinking about getting my $$$ back & going back to original. :(

Performance gains aside, I feel like I've heard having an aftermarket cai can make it more prone to sucking water in... Don't know though if anyone wants to chime in.

My 2013 does not have an after market CAI and still makes a god awful noise when the air pump releases pressure on shut off. I just ignore it.

Sounds like a loud wheezing or other rude body sound:eek:

What is true for a CHEVY Silverado may not ( more than likely is not ) be true for a TOYOTA Tacoma. Your posted evidence above has no meaning.

If you are going to try and make a point with evidence at least get relevant evidence.

That's the smog pump you hear. Nothing to do with the design of the intake.

But then again trying justify your point by using a video of a manufacture that has point files that can be used to adapt to the change in air/temp/massflow already in its ECU is not the same. In order to make any aftermarket CAI work properly in our Tacoma's you need to tune it.

Likewise our CAI's (stock) aren't as restrictive as you think, if your comparing a paper filter vs a cotton media filter you will see a slight flow difference, however, the cost of filtration is not worth the small gain.

you should spend your money on a mod that does something to be honest. A "CAI" which most aren't, give very small gains if any. The ones claiming 14+ HP are using a dyno in optimal conditions. RWHP is prob. only 2-4 if that. Not worth 300 bucks + to me. Bottom line HP costs money. No way around that. there is no cheap Super chip or cai that can substitute real HP.

also the stock intake is not RESTRICTIVE (not constrictive) by any means. The stock intake provides more than enough air for a STOCK motor. just my .02 :)

ill just leave this here...i think its worth the watch but to each his own.

btw a cold air intake is really only a performance part so its only getting used to its fullest at wide open throttle. putting it on a truck or vehicle that not going wide open throttle all the time is almost useless unless you are just using income tax money :)
mostly just for sound in my opinion.

this may not be a tacoma but im sure if this was done with a tacoma itd be the same results

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCi2yo4UqPI

always good to do a little research before throwing some hard earned money at a product for your truck..especially performance products

Moondeath. I know. I was just telling the OP that my I modified truck makes the same noise his does. Has nothing to do with the CAI.

Your stock intake actually has a tube that pulls in air near the wheel well and low behind the bumper. If you are going to play in water, stay with stock intake and get a snorkel.

And by stick with stock I mean just seal the stock Intake box and put a decent quality filter, avoid the paper ones but most FRAM and other "Performance name" drop ins are worthless, then get yourself a snorkel. Safari or what ever.
