I just purchased a 14' dcsb sr5 v6 4x4 with all the same goodies for 29,500 (might be a few dollars off, can't recall exact price) in san diego. They can go lower.

Just FYI, and most people don't get this, it is actually MUCH MUCH LESS hassle working the dealers over the phone and email than visiting 9 dealers (for example). Also, I saved $800 just on the final bid between dealers - thousands from their initial start points. All of it was done in less than 3 days - a few hours a day...in the comfort of my office. Just takes some preparation and the will to do it.

I used "out-the-door" in an effort to baseline price with Meggo's quote. I don't know if his price was before TTT or what exactly. For example, I don't know if TCrawford's pricing included those items or if that was just for the truck. It helps compare apples to apples. And out-the-door is a perfectly valid way to negotiate a price as long as the buyer knows what he wants and what he is getting. That's because delivery, tax, tag & title are all set and knowable. However, if there are a number of variable in play (options, delivery dates, etc.), then you're giving the salesman a opportunity to play you. The Bragg method requires that the seller determine exactly what vehicle and what options he is seeking BEFORE contacting the first dealer. And it doesn't work with used cars - too many variables and unknowns.

Finally, being cast as a mark is exactly what you avoid by using the Bragg method because you are negotiating strictly on price. You aren't having your ego massaged or getting emotionally attached to the dealership or the specific vehicle. It cuts through all the crap and gets to the lowest price of what is essentially a commodity - a new truck - the same one as the one the dealer down the street has.

I used a similar strategy to get a deal on a tonneau cover recently. I know I'll never buy another big-ticket commodity any other way.

    No, because:
Might as well roll your cost of gas into getting to the dealership into the deal.

Hardware costs money at point of sale. That shit you pay to the state, and doc fees are the fixed cost of doing the deal you want to do.

Nothing wrong with asking for a specific sum of money. Negotiating an "out the door" price, however, is akin to ax-ing fuh wut my muttly paybent gunna be?

It makes you a relatively uninformed mark, just not as sweet as yummy as the muttly paybent mutt.

I think I did o.k., but I'm sure they made a buck or two, 1.74% from my credit union made it sweeter. The 2014 SR package comes with black alloy wheels (saved me having to buy a new pair).

Nice. My CU only offered 1.99 as a teaser. Toyota financial offered the 1.74 or 1.79 (can't remember) so I went with them.

I had no idea that they offered blacked out rims. They look good. Congrats!

Really no options, does have power locks and windows. Also a touchscreen which I think is now standard.
    $26,600 out the door.
Yes I know I got bent over on the deal but I just totaled my truck and needed something quick. Great forum btw

After an exhaustive search, I found exactly what I was looking for, brand new 2014 double cab, long bed, 4wd, trd sport, with entune premium arriving at my local dealer in about three weeks. As soon as they have the VIN, I can start the purchasing process. What I wanted to ask, was, what will be the right range to pay for my new truck? As shipping, it includes everything listed above, along with exhaust tip and skid plate. As a part of the purchase, I plan to add the following: tube steps (black), trd exhaust, and hood protector.

I am in southern california, and i have found a couple trucks similar, but not the color I want, for about $34500 on the lots within 100 miles.

As priced on the toyota website, the "build" price is $37128 (with all chosen accessories). Should I expect to pay above that, can I negotiate below that?

Also, what are the chances I could talk them to swap out the stock wheels for some from an FJ or 4runner?

Thank you in advance, I love reading these forums, I figured if any group might have some answers to my questions (based on experience), this would be the place. Thanks!

You should be around $30K if the stealership is hungry. Don't go over $32K with the accessories, and preferably add the accessories after, with the 15% coupon they give you, imho. Your mileage will vary...

Don't get me wrong...that lwb is nice (I have a swb), but you sacrifice a lot of mechanics to get it, so that should be reflected in the price.

Shop around. Do NOT spend $37K under any circumstance.

Sorry for my ignorance, but "lwb" and "swb"? Is this reference to bed length? If so, what am I giving up besides TRD OR?

    Thank you...

Speaking of this, weird thing happened today. Found exactly what I wanted at a dealer 380 miles away, with a website listing the price at $29425 on a specific VIN. Screaming deal, it seems on a 4wd TRD sport double cab long bed with jbl and nav.

Got in contact with the dealer, asked to confirm price, and told list was $36k but with discounts, his price was $33371. I had printed off the website earlier informing him of the earlier $29425 price. Not sure if it was an error on their website of what, but do I have any claim with a printout from their website earlier? I knew the price was a bit too good to be true. Now the price corresponds to a sr5 with different VIN. Very strange and frustrating.

Negotiated the price of a 4x4 AC Mag Grey TRD sport down to 300 over invoice. When I arrived to pick it up and trade a vehicle in on it, they offered $4,000 less than KBB value on my trade in.

Looks like if I want to do the deal I need to go to carmax, but I almost don't want to even deal with this dealership because of how inflexible they are.

By the way, screw this whole process...

I picked mine up for $29,700. Think I got pretty good deal, seeing that I went to 3 dealers and the other two wouldn't match or beat that offer.

Trd sport package, 4wd, double cab, automatic, short bed, floor mats.

I am getting weathertec floor mats, two swing cases and an Undercover classic hardcover for the bed installed Monday and ordered a cargo divider that should arrive soon. My total investment will be around $28,500.

14' TRD Sport 4X4 DCSB (Sold) 2021 TRD OR M/T
I purchased my first Tacoma a couple of weeks ago. I've bought quite a few vehicles and sold them for about a year so I know the game. Toyota seems a bit different, at least around here. I talked to the four closest dealerships to me and got no where, they kept trying to sell me a Tundra. I guess since Tacomas sell so well they don't have to deal on them. I finally found a TRD Sport DCSB 4x4 Auto, a "white whale" in Oklahoma. Sticker was $33,400, I paid $31,150 otd. With no dealer incentives, except on the TSS package, there is about $1,900 from sticker to invoice, minus dealer hold back. Hope this helps.
