Put many many miles on these Tars... never had a traction issue, or a wear issue with them. I think the new open tread design will help them compete with the newer designs, but they were/are plenty tough and still a quality tar.

On a hunting trip a few years ago had a wicked rainstorm and the mud made it impossible for everyone to move except for me.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

This looks like it would be an awesome tire for freshly graded fire roads with sharp rocks on them. The extra sidewall tread would certainly be helpful. I'm staying tuned...

x2, will probably never use anything else. good in the 2 feet of snow we just got, in the mud and also not loud on the highway.

Any word on when the updates are going to be out? I would definitely consider the updated ones. I like how tough my BFG's are, increase traction and I would never have to research new tires again. :)

I liked my Rugged Terrains. Went through MN snow, MO and KS "blizzards" lol, and all sorts of other stuff. Great tire, loud on the highway was its fault, or I would have bought them all-around again.

Ive run them on my Land Rover and Jeep TJ. They are great for off roading in dry conditions. In mud it's another story. The clog up and don't clean very well. Once they fill with mud you might as well be running racing slicks.

I have them and they do good (basically all i drive is to school and back), but i'll be replacing them with hankook MT's
    [IMG]
But i may keep a spare set mounted for road trips.

After using both the KM2's and now the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires I will NEVER run the BFG AT KO again... Ever!

They wore like crap on my truck, terrible grip even on the roads.. even worse in dirt compared to the other I have run and are waaaay too expensive for being such a dated old tech tire.

I have had them on 4 different trucks. 2 K5 Blazers, a 2000 Silverado, and a 94 Toyota Ex Cab. I got 78,000 out of 35s on the silverado and and wheeled every other truck. Never got stuck, no flats, low tire noise on the road, and they last forever. They are the best all-terrain tire. Ill be getting a set of 33s for my 08 Tacoma this summer.

I had a set on a truck I had about 15 years ago, and I thought they were awesome all around tires. I've been thinking about tires since I bought my Taco in August, and I just ordered a new set yesterday. Can't wait to get the stock rims & tires off and put these on! :D

In a place where all the roads are rough, every trip off the main highway is like an offroad adventure and the winter weather can be brutal cold with lots of snow and ice, you see 2 tires more than any others the BFG at and Goodyear Wrangler.

My Chevy has half worn BFG AT's and my Tacoma has some type of Kumho
AT'S on them from the previous owner. We've been having a bad winter here so the Tacoma sits in the garage with the useless Kumho's and the Chevy is now the daily driver with the half worn BFG's. They are very good in the snow.

I used to run them on my trucks and Land Cruisers starting in the '80s but the last sets I had on a '95 Tacoma and an '80 FJ40 both dry rotted pretty quickly. That said, they worked well for the time including goofing off in Baja for a month and never getting a flat. I'm running Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors now but they're going to need replacing this year and I'll be switching to Duratracs. Dry rotting was one thing when they were like $110/each but they've basically doubled in cost in the last few years.

The BFG All Terrain is not a dated tire. I have had like 8 different sets of these and never had a flat. They are great both on and off road. I stay out of the mud so that possible AT weakness was never a factor for me.

I've run 32"s , 33's, and 35"s sets of BFGs pretty hard thru the desert and never punctured a sidewall. I also run the 10 ply version and that has a much stronger sidewall.

+1 for Duratracs. Pretty impressed with them so far. Much more quiet and less "floaty" than KM2's I've had on other trucks. Do way better in the rain and snow too. :D

The BFG's are very good tires and they definitely look good. I bought a full set of 17" takeoffs few years back for my F150 Screw with <200 miles on them for $360. Came off a new Tundra. Ran them for over 50K with zero problems.
Any negative perception is maybe due to popularity for so long plus being OEM on many new SUV's/trucks? (saw them everywhere for many years)
I recently switched over to Goodyear Wrangler Authority's on my '08 Pathfinder when it was time for new rubber. Slightly more aggressive; great looking tires. Under $700 installed. A little whine but stable and they track well. Excellent in snow and ice. I'm about 20K into them and no issues.
NOW to my point: With my 2014 DCLB I'm going to try and run the OEM Dunlop's at least for a few thousand miles. (5800 miles to date on the truck) The Dunlop's run well but look like crap... Arrg. just don't want to drop the cash needlessly and try to recoup by selling the Dunlops.
When I switch out on my TACO it's really anyone's guess. I don't want super aggressive and no big off-road tires would suit my needs. (I'm an old dude and past the lifts, big tires, etc.)
I kind of like the look of the Goodyear Authority's. I don't like the whine but most good looking tires will have a bit of that. Looking at all options...

ive used BFG A/T's for years UNTIL i tried Nitto Terra Grapplers. BFG's are complete shit compared to these. BFG's wear terrible, ride terrible, and work terrible compared to the Nittos. With that being said there is A LOT of room for improvement with the BFG's and Im sure if they do some more R and D they will be much better.

My LT265/75R16 120/116 S KO BFG tires have fair tread on them but are showing dry rot signs. It won't be long before I have to replace them and am looking for advice for the replacements. I like the tread pattern and the ride has been decent but the early dry rot is not good. What would you guys recommend for replacements?
    Thanks,
    John
