    South Carolina CWP does indeed reciprocate with FL.

    With a CWP you can have your handgun in your vehicle as long as its not visable, and it can be loaded. IIRC.

    Without a CWP a handgun must be in a holster or case and inside of a compartment in the vehicle. It can be loaded.

    Always hated blocks. They're just bad news in just about every way possible. I'd suggest getting a set of extended shackles but IIRC 2nd Gens have the upside down type so that wouldn't help. Can they be flipped around easily? Maybe cut a hole in the bottom of the mount big enough for the shackle to fit through and flip it over, then weld a piece of u-shaped steel over the top of it to return the strength of the mount? It would have to be a better option than blocks and probably give you an instant 2-3"s of lift (at least) as well.

    You need a shackle flip from ato, Lee.

    In Florida it does not make a difference if you have a round chambered or not. If you have a firearm in your car, that's your castle. It's a very gray area and 9/10 LEO's will not give you shit if you're not an asshole. The only law is that it can not be readily accessible. So I would keep it in a holster or something. I carry a .38 and I have it in a snap holster.

    I was just thinking about a cheap way for Jason to get more lift in the back of his truck without using blocks or coughing up the cash for springs.

    :D Fortunately, the shackles on a 1st Gen are right side up. I am considering getting a set of longer shackles though. I'm also thinking about getting .75-1" top plate spacers for my front coil-overs to replace the .25" ones I have now. I'd like to have just a little more ride height.

    Just keep in mind of the downside of a longer shackle is you will give up up-travel.

    I'm having a hard time picturing how that would be. Seems like longer shackles would translate to more travel...at least in cases where you might have a spring with a deeper arch since you wouldn't have to worry about the shackle reaching its full travel before the spring fully flattened out.

    Wouldn't hurt my feelings none if that were true though. With my tires that might actually be a benefit. Although, I don't really think I'm getting my full amount of up-travel as it is since I'm hitting the front side of the fender pretty hard long before I'm fully stuffed.

    You have the same amount of travel just exchange up travel for down travel with the longer shackle, while gaining lift.

    Technically the up travel is still there but you'll be putting your springs into some gnarly negative arch to use it.

    I guess as long as you're hitting the bumps, that's about all the up-travel you're going to get anyway. At any rate, I would think that losing up-travel would be more of an issue with blocks and AALs than it would be for shackles.

    Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Just that our springs are already running with some pretty good negative arch when stuffed to begin with. At least that's the case with 1st Gens since they sit damn near flat at normal ride position. Any up-travel and they go to negative arch.

    Also, note his APs seem to have the reverse issue of my Dakars, actually moving the axle aft of center of the wheel well instead of fwd of center. Doesn't anyone make springs for 1st Gens that center the axle in the wheel well? :p

    Elastic negative arch doesn't matter. Roll with it. Your springs will wear out more quickly because you cycle them more, not because you have some negative arch at stuff.
