Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari event in Truckhaven, if you have not been you should go. Plan on staying at least one night so you can hang at the Pit at night.

 

Hmm Can you ride out there is far as quads?

 

I have seen some quads and side by sides out there. Its mostly a jeep/crawler event. Some amazing rigs to see. Red Bull rock buggy etc is always there. Always some good carnage to see as well.

I went last year and watched! This is epic!

 

Yes, you can get around a lot of the area in 2wd, much like Ocotillio. Plenty of fun stuff to watch day and night. 2WD can get back to Telephone booh hill and see some great stuff during the day and the pit at night is also easy to get to in 2wd.
You wont be able to do any of the official runs though, I never do official runs, too many people lined up and too slow. This year I am planning on doing the All Pro run though, much smaller group, if they will have me

I do not, I just sent them my email registration request. You need to register for the TDS event as well. Registration for TDS is not required to poke around for the weekend but it goes to a good cause and everyone should do it.
The Saturday night vendor alley is pretty good time, raffles, music, food, etc.

 

you have any problems with your wheel/tire combo wheeling?

the 315s hanging in there ok with the 7.5" wheel?

 

No problems at all, works great.

 

great to hear...i asked cooper about putting the 315/75/16 STT on the 7.5" wheel and they "didn't recommend it" but it's only 0.5" narrower than the bottom of their "range"

down the line i hope to convert to real beadlock which will widen it a bit, but i figure for now it should hold up fine

 

Saw an article in fourwheeler mag about something called inner air lock. I'm going to look into it more since bead locks aren't legal in VA

 

Tire manufacturers don't recommend it because it could cause a slight crow in the center of the tread width causing that area to wear a bit faster. 1/2" is an insignificant amount. It will also preserver your wheels more in the rocks.

Those look like a balancing nightmare. I mean definitely don't want to be popping a bead, but I feel like that is overcomplicating it. Then again what do I know I never drop my psi lower than 25 and have a proper sized tire and rim combination. lol

 

From what little I've read, those are basically runflats, effectively. You can air down to almost nothing If running standard beadlocks as well, and the inner beadlock will maintain.
