I have an 09 DC preunner. 3" Toytec lift with bilstein 5100s, coils, and rear aal. -12 17X9 rims with 285/70/17 nitto terras. I had a shop install the lift and I did have an alignment. Im 1 week in to driving it with no major offroading just some dirt fields..... The truck wants to pull left when im braking on the road. The steering feels kinda loose in general and really rides the worn kinda ruts on the road. My previous vehicles have all been older lowered cars, 89 mustang, 92 camaro and so on......Is this something that is expected with my set up or should I be looking for problems? Thanks for any help.

Did they give you a spec sheet with your alignment numbers on it? I bet you're low on caster if you didn't get new UCAs. Also, I would think those bigger tires are going to follow grooves in the road more.

I did not get a spec sheet but I can stop by there Monday, they are the most recommended place in town so im sure they wont mind me asking some questions. I did not get new UCAs but im not against the idea.

If the steering feels loose it could be tie rods, mine does the same and members here told me tie rods

It'll be interesting to see what the alignment numbers are. Without upgrade upper control arms (UCAs), you most likely lost all your caster with the lift. Caster provides self-centering characteristics for the steering.

The other contributors are the 40mm wider off road tires (which tend to follow pavement grooves) and the -12mm offset wheels. Stock offset is +32mm. The tire contact patch now has 32+12=44mm more leverage over the steering system.

Since you most likely want to keep the wheels and tires, just buy upgrade UCAs. You have many brands to choose from (Icon, Total Chaos, All-Pro, Built Right, Camburg...)

Thank you for all the info. Yes I definitly wanna keep the set up so I'll be picking up some UCAs. I would have just done it all at once if I knew better!

Needing new UCA's tends to happen right around the 2.5" of lift area. The issues you're explaining definitely sounds like caster that is out of spec. That's exactly how mine rode at 2.5" without new UCA's.

Light Racing makes some good UCAs that are very affordable. Pretty popular on here.

Headstrong off-road has the best pricing I've seen on the LR UCA's ...... $375 shipped, I'm buying a set tonight. Wheels tires and lift r on the way and after seeing so many problems with stock UCA's after those mods I'm just gonna bite the bullet and get them now.
