Mechanic Quote Today, Duluth, MN

"Yea you'll get 350,000 out of this, shes in amazing shape" Customer behind me starts chatting says he has an 04 civic and he's hoping to get 300,000 from it. The mechanic just laughs and says "that cars lived in Duluth well be lucky to get 150,000"

I live in Oregon, but I've been in Duluth, MN and SE Asia lately so the truck has seen some of Duluth's driving pleasures. I'm from here and spent the first 18years of my life here. Its one of the worst places I can think of for your vehicle.
-They salt the roads like crazy, which leaves your frame looking like shit
-It's freezing cold, like -30 cold regularly. In turn we have to warm up our cars.
-The city is urban so most drives are under ten miles, barley time for it to warm up all the way.
-The whole city is on a giant hill. So you are always going up or down.
-The roads are bad, the city is old and poverty is high so allot of the roads are pretty rough.

But summers are nice

 

makes me want to move there.
