I have an iPhone 4 16GB and I'm looking to get an iPhone 5S 16 or 32GB

 

Dude, if you wait till March 2nd how much does that phone cost? And why do you wanna do it, want or need?

I love my toys but balance it with your overall situation financially.

 

I should have been more specific. I meant the data. They don't cap or restrict. At last that was always my understanding.

 

Oh.. Ya I don't have the 2 gb a month plan . I use it all day everyday and my bill is always 60 bucks .

 

Supposedly the other companies all slow down once you hit a certain amount of usage. IDK if it's true or not but that's the pitch that they give you from Sprint though.

Yes. Sprint likes to say after you use so much data that the internet slows down. I have no idea how true it is.

 

I don't know how you guys do it... That's a lot of dough each month. But to each his own.

Sit down for this: I have Verizon pay as you go with a.... Samsung flip. $1.99 a day when I use it and $0.02 each text. No charge if you don't use it. $30.00 refill card is good for 3 months. That works out to $10.00 per month. I'd like a smartphone but just can't justify $50 to $80 (or more) bill a month. I still have my old Motorolla bag phone in the basement and would be using that if I still could!

I don't mind paying for a smartphone . I save a lot of money on other things each month that you probably spend more on then my phone bill is

 

John, you're right. I'm not trying to be critical. We each have our own priorities. For me, a smartphone isn't one.

 

I can upgrade on March 2nd. The phone would be $199 still. I use the phone so much for banking, school, boredom at work.. I need a lot of data and I need something that's fast and easy. iPhones are easy to use. My current one is slow as hell. The new ones are fast as hell. That solves my problem

I just don't know if I can truly go to best buy and just so a swippedy swap like Jason was saying, or if I would need a new plan, in which case I would seriously begin looking at sprint as an option.

I pay $30 for fully unlimited. I could run a computer lab off the tether (though it would be slow as hell) and not pay a penny more a month. Most plans now either slow down after 2GB OR they charge you... Verizon charges $10 per GB overage.

Apparently I have only used 416.77MB this month... odd. I usually use a LOT more! I also have only used 42 minutes. My bill renews in 16 days though, so who knows how much TW I'll get to browse from the interwebz

I used to do verizon prepaid too. It wasn't terrible. I just hate the lack of phone choice. I still have a few flip phones laying around.

Alex, ive also done the upgrade swap deal, though it doesn't really matter since we both have unlimited data from the original iphone days. But the wife gets a new iphone from work every time a new one comes out, so she doesn't use her personal one much. Which lets me upgrade basically once a year if I want to since I can use hers or mine if available. Our bill is $140/ month for unlimited data, text, I forget how many minutes, free nights /weekends. Though we also get an 18% discount through my company.

Ive done it at the cingular (at&t) now and at best buy. I like dealing with best buy personally. Their insurance plan is far superior Imo. This summer when I flopped my boat and swamped my phone I got a brand new one, same model no questions asked. Dropped that one and smashed the screen, got a brand new one again no questions asked.

 

Fair enough, but for the sake of $400 wait the 2 weeks and do it then my man..

I have a Blackberry and don't think I would even have that if it wasn't free.

 

Good advice is good. Especially for someone always complaining about bills, its only a little over 2 weeks

 

Even if I could afford it I'd wait the 2 wks to save $400. Hell, even if it was busted I'd wait.

 

You guys misunderstood me. I would be waiting for the upgrade no matter what.

The only way I would pay full price is to avoid upgrading the phone through Verizon, basically buying an eBay phone and activating it. But it's super expensive that way.
