We had one nice day in the past two months, so I took tons of pictures. My truck is full of salt/sand from the roads, that day was the one warm day when salt would work so they caked it on the roads. They don't just scrape them like they did back in the day. :(

So I painted my rear "bumper" aka a piece of wood :D Obviously I painted it black. Used the paint that was left over from doing my wheels. All in all, I used four cans to do the piece of wood, four wheels (three coats at least on each), and misc. pieces around the truck that needed some "touching up".

Also, I know my tailgate is dirty. It's been sitting in my garage for probably close to a month. I might take it off again, my truck is easier to back up without it :)

And this is where she sits most of the time. In my high school parking lot :(
    [IMG]

Also, never got around to posting a picture of my ProComm 4' CB antenna mount. It is made for a semi's mirror bracket (as are a lot of mounts out there), so I just reversed both brackets to gain clearance from my bed side, and mounted it to the bed. I only put two bolts in at the time because my old drill was acting up, and just never found the need to put the other two on. If I'm ever going in the woods or somewhere with a low roof clearance I have a spring I can put on there if I still needed to use my CB :)

Nice bumper. Now you you should make it out of metal, should be able to find a piece of about the same size. The put some d-rings on it for recovery.
You should be able to bribe some one at your school to do the welding in shop class.

    Keep it up!

Nice truck! You should ask for a torch/ welder for christmas or your b day or something.. I did it when i was 17 and they've come in handy so many times on my trucks.. If you guys have a place to get free metal out where you are it means custom bumpers haha

Thank you! :) I think I'm gonna hold off on any big tools like that until I have my own garage space. Plus, I might move to Nebraska this summer so it would be hard to move that stuff along with all my other crap. :goingcrazy:

Thank you! I'm from the Marquette area. You're right, beautiful country...in the summer! Not much opportunity economy wise though, and the winters are extremely long.

So lately I've been having some problems with my truck. My first problem, is with my electrical system. I bought a new battery just before Christmas, and then got my sub about two weeks later. When I installed it, I noticed it kept going into some sort of a "protective" mode. I thought it was because of my bad ground, so I never thought nothing about it. My headlights will occasionally dim when I left off my gas, and brighten when I get on the gas. Once again, just always thought it was my weak battery. However lately the problem has been happening a lot more, seems like it's always when it warms up a little bit. I'm going to wait out the winter with what I've got now.

My second problem isn't really the truck's fault. Normally I keep my heater controls on the "cab" setting (for the air vents..I assume?). Today on my way home from school it was somewhat of a nice day so I wanted to see what would happen when I opened my vents to let in air from outside. BAD IDEA. Apparently there was a mouse's home somewhere in there. When I went to Omaha for about a week in November I parked my truck in my family's garage, and I think that's when the little bastard built the nest. I made sure to clean as much of it out as I can, but ehh..still could be more in there I can't see. The worst part about it all is that something got lodged in my heater fan, so when I put my fan on at all it vibrates my dash and is extremely loud. So I'm going to try fixing it myself. Not even sure where to start though.

    But anyway, picture time :)

My brother's car wouldn't start and nobody without 4wd could make it close enough to jump him. So of course the parentals called me :p

This is a close up of the little LED light that turns on when my off road lights are on. Simple, easy, and cheap mod!

And finally, I broke down and ended up moving my CB mic. Not many places to mount it as I don't have any type of a center console. My biggest gripe is when I go around a corner and can feel crap hitting my leg! Where it is now though it doesn't hit.

You could go to a local parts store and have them do an electrical/ charging system test. They'll test the battery, alternator, and starter...that is always how i start. Usually they can tell you if you are going to need an alternator which is all i am hoping it will be...

    Best of luck buddy :)

Good start buddy. Trust me(coming from a 25yo college student.... I'm usaf vet) enjoy your first truck. In spring pull the bed get some wire brushes, rust stop, and paint and get the under side all cleaned up. Some of the best time with my buddies to this day are working on old trucks. I've got a 2011 2nd gen and its not nearly as fun to work on hahaha

There's tons of cheap mods to keep you building. Oh and using spray on bed liner on the bottom of the body panels will help with chips and salt maybe saving the body for awhile. I'm from pa and my buddies and I did this to keep body rot at bay (I had the advantage of a new truck but still sealed the body seam behind the rockers with rtv then sprayed bed liner) ;)

This summer the bottom 5 or 6in of body will be coated with bed liner even though I still run the ugly mud flaps on the front that hang like old boobs

Okay, so the heater problem seems to be taken care of. After about an hour with a vacuum and two more disassembling/assembling everything, I have a working heater again :)

This was the only picture I was able to get, I was trying to get it done so I could head out for the night. I was able to clean everything up in the process and I ziptied all my wires back farther up so it looks way cleaner then it did before. Everything is all back together now.

And this doesn't have anything to do with the truck but I went to the Eben ice caves in Upper Michigan this weekend and it was amazing. This was one picture from my iPhone but got a ton more with our Nikon D3000. Amazing place!

And just a side note, if anyone is looking for a good multi tool, be sure to pick up the Leatherman Wave; got one this weekend and it's already paid itself off!
