Thanks for the info. The one in Lacey is closer, that and I don't currently want to spend $20-30 on hazmat fees. I guess I will keep checking Sportsman Warehouse on Weds.

Ya the haz crap sucks. The only way around it is to put in a very large order so it's spread out more, as there is only one fee per shipment. Just buy a whole years worth in one whack.

Don't worry Jake. I am quite willing to help drink your share of beer. When you are ready to come back to reality, I will also share with you too.

Yeah it is. He's crazy if he thinks he can sell it for that, even if its in great condition. Trucks don't appreciate unless you did something really over the top or you have race pedigree.
I also can't believe he's selling this quick. He goes through trucks faster than I go through shoes

    I say this now..

Probably going to last about 3 weeks..

Guess the weather has been absolute shit up there thus far. Talked to a buddy of mine this afternoon - they were on the way in to port with 8" of ice on the boat and in the trough the entire way..

    Mmm.. Stone Double Bastard.

But there's no more upgrade path after the Tacoma. It's the best there is

I have a hard time keeping up with that forum since it stopped sending email notifications. Without popping over, I'd say he's going for something older since he wants to pay for remodeling. I don't know if he'd buy the same vehicle over again, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him with a Montero.

Obviosuly he has his reasons and can do what he wants... but will all of the money he would be losing selling his truck....I would find some other way to make the money for his house. I hope it works out for him either way.

    Mmm... Beautiful, sunny Dutch Harbor.

Only two people barfed on the landing.

Snow showers, limited visibility and a 35 knot cross wind will do that..

Well day 15 at the dealership. Talked to them today and they said they've been going back and forth with corporate. Something about how the pieces of metal caused some damage internally to the diff housing so that needs to be replaced. Pictures getting sent back and forth, etc.

Seemed to suggest it would all be covered under warranty but still nothing confirmed. Well maybe that's a generous statement. I guess I was thinking that if this was not getting covered under warranty, they would have said 'no' by now instead of dragging it this long. Dealership mentioned it might not be until end of week before they get a reply back from corporate.

    Crossing my fingers still...

Hey guys, long time no talk. I wanted to reach out and see if I can get your input on an issue I'm having with my Ford. I know, I know... But it's actually not really a ford part that is causing me trouble.

It's a F-250 so it has a Dana 60 axle on the front. The previous owner installed Warn manual locking hubs. Since nothing else has been upgraded on the truck, I imagine he installed these because something was wrong with the stock ones. That occurs to me NOW but not when I got the truck.

So, ever since I got the truck (I didn't test the 4X4 on the test drive), the 4X4 has clanked like a motherfucker from the drivers side front wheel when the hubs are LOCKED and the switch on the dash is in 4HI. I have played with the setup a bit to try and pinpoint the issue and it definitely seems to be isolated to the driver side of the axle. Transfer case shifts fine, passenger side seems to be working fine (although I discovered today that the passenger side hub wasn't disengaging), everything seemed fine besides the driver side. So, I left my hubs locked, took the transfer case back to 2HI and drove a bit. Result: No obnoxious clank, but still enough of a clank that I could feel it in the floorboard and by sticking my head out the window. Soon as the 4HI is turned back on, the clank comes back.

I have been bouncing around between houses and changing jobs so much that I haven't dug into the truck. I did dig into it today, first thing I noticed was that the axle on the driver side seemed to have a lot of play around where the axle U-Joints are. The main wheel bearing in the hub seems completely tight, wheel rolls in the air with no noise and very little friction.

I went as far as to pull that axle shaft out to get a better look at the U-Joints. As soon as the axle was in my hand... the U-joints seem completely tight. :(

So, at this point I put the hub back on the truck, left the axle out and am going to park it for the week.

I need some help as far as where to start on figuring this out. The Warn manual hubs did seem very dry, normally when I've opened up any hub, on a vehicle or a trailer, you're neck deep in grease. These had basically only enough grease inside of them to have a thin layer on all metal surfaces. Should these be PACKED with grease?

Has anyone played with these axles? I know Anton had big trucks in the past and so did the dude from Junction City who's name is blanking on me right now...

ALSO: I live in Aloha, OR now! So maybe I'll go buy a Toyota instead so I can legitimately hang out with you guys again.

So I accidentally ordered Diff oil with the limited slip addititive. Amazon refunded me and said I could keep it. I want to pass it on so if anyone with a 05 to 09 Tacoma wants it.... Let me know! I will either hand it off at a meet, you pick it up, or I ship and you pay shipping.
