I have been having problems with my Tacoma's front windshield fogging up ever since I bought the truck. It goes away once the truck warms up and I leave on the defrost, but once I turn it off, it fogs right back up. Anyone else have this problem?

    Thanks

Jk... is the windshield fogged up when you get in the truck or after you get In and start it up?
My truck fogs up on cold nights when I get in after leaving the gym. .. Cold truck, hot body=foggy Windows.

Yup, both of mine have done it since they were new, very frustrating. One dealership looked into whether there was a TSB for it, but back then at least, there wasn't (5 years ago). If anyone has any ideas why it does this, it would be great to hear! It may not sound like much, but living in the damp conditions of the PNW/South-western BC, it can be pretty painful.

I'm thinking that you already know what the problem is.

The solution: Move to Arizona. :)

I actually run into this problem a lot as well during cold days. These trucks don't like the cold weather very much apparently.

Definitely a moisture problem in the cab. Puddles on the floor, sweaty heavy breathing humans, or open drinks (steaming hot coffee), are some possibilities.

They don't like the DAMP COLD days. I have no problems in Wyoming in -10+, where the humidity is 40, days with fogging unless I purposely blow air right to the windshield.

Source: I came to Wyoming from Florida where it would fog up immediately after getting into the taco.

No fogging issues for me. And with all the snow and cold we have been having their is definitely moisture in the cab. Ie climbing in and out with snow covered boots and soaking the floor mats. Not just me, the wife, kids and dog. May be something to do with your climate control. Just a guess though. Their is def something different going on with yours. If mine was going to have fogging issues it would have with the way it's used.

Living in the Maritimes in Canada we also have alot of moisture (snow) in the cab. Only time I fog up is when I have the heat blasting on the floor mat and I shut it off in the cold, windows will fog up or frost up on the inside.

You didnt mention if you have the recirc on or off?

Do you have a lot of frozen/wet slop at your feet?

I live in the snow too but never use recirculate, and my footwells are always dry. I use defrost only until the engine is warm, then its set to blow at the feet in the effort to keep that area bone dry. With these conditions met the only time ill have fogging issues is if 1 or 2 sweaty people jump in.

What does your cabin air filter look like? All nice and dry?

Euh, never heard about something called the dew point  And i'm not talking about the soft drink :D

One thing is sure, it's not the truck. Never find a steam source hidden in the defrost system of the truck just to produce moisture

Can somone help me, when driving in the mud, the tires on my truck are getting dirty?

You can run the AC with the defrost to dry the air in the truck.

Also, make sure the cab filter is clean, and the HVAC condensation drain tube out the firewall is clear and not obstructed.

Anyone try cleaning the windshield with alcohol? Mine was fogging up all of the time and I would have to run the defroster constantly to keep it clear. Cleaned the inside with isopropyl alcohol and it didn't fog up anymore. It wears off after awhile, but it worked pretty well for me.

I recently changed my cabin air filter, which was in desperate need of changing apparently, and the fogging up immediatly stopped. The weather has continued to stay cold and damp here in Seattle
    but still no issues.

It happens from time to time with my 2011 Tacoma, and it happened to my '91 Hilux. Must be a Toyota thing when it's cold, first thing I thought I had a coolant leak, not the case!

I periodically re-check the TSB list for Tacomas on Alldata (have an account at work). When I bought mine (and while it was under warranty) there was no TSB for this issue. I do believe that I saw one just got released within the last few months for this issue. I guess the fix is putting a different nozzle that projects the defroster air better. I will double check when I go into work tomorrow, but I am fairly certain this was under the Tacoma and not some other vehicle I was browsing.
