Cool. Good to know. This is my first set of replacements for the stock tires. I will probably go bigger up front. Glad you're able to run a 2.4. I'll look into Maxxis

yeah you can run a pretty big tire up front. ive never actually measured how wide the tire is on my bike but it has to be pretty close to true 2.4 from looking at it. its the rear end where you can run into trouble, especially as the suspension cycles.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
My current and favorite tire combo is a 2.5 Maxxis Minion DHF Exo wall NON-UST in the front with a 2.4 Maxxis High Roller II in the back. Great bite for the pedaling and awesome corner grip on the loose stuff.

Hey, just joined up! from Vancouver BC, been shredding bikes for years and years.. race a little in the BC cup, nothing serious though. Here are my bikes, M9 for DH, and a Production Privee Shan hardtail.

Stoked to see there are so many other riders on here. Ride on!

Cool man. The bike park is definitely a fun way to spend an afternoon. If you want to check out some of the local trails in squamish or the north shore drop me a line on here and we'll see if we can put something together.. we can shuttle in my taco!

New to Tacomas and the forum, but not to biking... Anyone on this thread living in the Seattle metro area?

    Here are my two...

    Orange Bike:
-2004 Santa Cruz Chameleon, medium frame.
    -Single track wheels
    -Marzocchi Bomber adjustable Front Fork.
-Schimano XT Hydraulic Disk breaks 6in F&R
-Schimano XT Shifter and Rear derailleur.
-MRP limited Edition 3 piece chain guided crank
    -Thompson Seat post
    -Ritchey Stem
    -Truvati/ Hussefelt Fatty Bars
    -Truvati/Hussefelt Head

It was built as a downhill racer and rarely used... I bought it a few years ago and treat it like a BMX bike when I can. Super fun, but I did have to change the headset to something a little longer since I am 6'3" and a little too tall for the bike overall.

    Black / Red Bike:
A 2014 Giant Talon 27.5 4, Large Frame. Almost alll stock. I bought this bike because I was doing a lot of mild riding and the 8 speeds on the Santa Cruz weren't enough to make climbing fun. It is an entry level bike, but works really well after a new set of 50/50 pedals and a wider front tire. I originally bought this in XL size, but that was a hell of a lot of bike and the Large fits me much better.

Man, I see those Surlys in the bike shop and always want to ask for a test ride just to see what they do. I imagine they are perfect for snow and mud, maybe sand?

    DROPPER POST

I'm ordering a new bike and have thoroughly enjoyed having a Gravity Dropper on my old rig. My question: is anyone familiar enough with available models to know which one may be easiest to remove.
Ideally, able to detach cable at post to exchange for a regular post and also to make it easier to place in work stand.

I have had a Command Post and currently I own a Reverb stealth. The Command Post is the only one I know of that you can just detach the cable for the post. My Reverb requires you to unplug the hose from the remote to take the post out. I was happy with both posts.

Why would you want to swap out posts? I just clamp my bike using the seat tube. The KS LEV has a cable at the base but I don't know how easy it is to unhook the cable. The Reverb you definitely don't want to disconnect. The Reverb would come off best as a whole assembly just like removing a caliper and lever.

To have the option to shed the extra pound
I don't wanna clamp a carbon seat tube
To hook up my son's trail-a-bike

Thanks for the input guys. Definitely seems these gizmos are getting better and better:)
