Anyone into R/C?

Its all good man, pretty sure he got the flux then bought a drift wheel set.

 

I imagine a 4wd short course or buggy would be entertaining with a set of drift wheels/tires

 

This is correct. Pretty damn fun! Just learning how to link the drifts together is going to be the key.. And control.

 

Anyone ever converted an associated sc10 to a drift car?

nah, just take tires off. straight wheels is the ultimate in drift gnar!

 

off to a day at the track

only have 2 of the 4 track worthy vehicles up and running, but that just means i'll be breaking fewer vehicles over the course of the day

 

added some wire wrap to my 8th scale electronics.



also painted a new body for it.

New Team Associated Rival is on the way!!! New shocks/Springs and 500k weight oil for the center dif also ordered. Cant wait to get back into RC. I had a RC10 gold chassis and an RC10T about 20 years ago. thought this will be a good basher to play around with while I decide which truggy/buggy kit to get for racing.

Making good progress on the Jato conversion. hoping to have it up and running tomorrow evening. definitely ready by the weekend.

So far i've removed all of the nitro related stuff, gotten it to a good rolling platform. stock has a freewheeling 2 speed transmission. i didn't want to have to keep the disk brake (requires extra servo), so i got the single speed transmission gear set, without the idler, so now the electric motor will be able to provide braking (and i'll have reverse )

cut up an e-maxx motor plate and adapted it to bolt up to the jato transmission case. mocked up with a brushed motor i had sitting around. going out at lunch to pick up some parts and a brushless motor and esc for it.

next thing to figure out is servo mounting. in stock form, the steering servo mount is integrated into the fuel tank mount. with all of that gone, i'll have to come up with my own mounting solution.

also have to decide on how i want to secure the battery.

after that, i just have to wire everything up and go play
