i just ordered mine from toyteclifts and it looks like its quality is pretty good from the picture.

dude that looks like its going to be super tight when its done.

 

It's a Mr. Steering from ebay. It comes from the UK so it took a couple weeks to get. I like it better than the wheelskins I've had before. It feels more like real soft leather and isn't slippery. This is a lace on one too, but it was much easier than ramming the big ass needle through a hole on the wheelskins.

Installed some LEDs behind the rat skid

And also put an red led dome light to match

 

Found oil drips underneath the truck last week. Suspected the oil cooler since I just had the seals replaced. Popped the hood when I got to the dealer, had coolant everywhere. Turned out to be my upper radiator hose met its max life at 194,000miles. My guess is the leaking occured when the motor was running, hot and under pressure, and the oil I saw was due to the coolant loosening up some residual oil on the skid plate.

Had the upper / lower hoses and clamps replaced with a Mobile 1 oil change for $240 at the dealer.

Found lightly used 2004 Tacoma buckets in grey to replace my 60/40 bench. I'm hoping they fit into my 1996. Haven't heard alot of people swapping between '96 and '04. Otherwise, Need seat belt buckle receivers for the seats and to figure out how to change the seats from grey to oak.

Finally got the diff breather mod done, and replaced the inner axle seal again. Hopefully it goes another 6 months without leaking

 

Why do some rear Toyota axles go through axle seals often? I know some people that have replaced there's multiple times with less than 200k miles...

 

Are you sure you got the right one? I had mine replaced when I got the 5.29s. I noticed it on my trip back home and took it to a shop in Laramie. Guy said the other one was incorrect.

 

well my axle is the hodge podge swap with parts from 3 different trucks. Think that has something to do with it

Well the other type of axle seal was the big outter seal/dust guard. The inner seal is a lot smaller. I did get a different type this time, last one had a metal ring, this one is all rubber. Dunno if tht will make a difference.

 

we went as far back as 94 on up to 04 and theyre identicle as far as the tracks on them, crossbars may have been a tad different but I believe they were the same as well.. I only built my own cross bars cause since I have the sunroof the tracks had to sit wider than they come on the runner so the stock crossbars had to be extended thus weakening them and I just happened to have some 1" tube laying around so it was a no brainer

Most auto stores have them. Part of a multi-purpose tool.
However, 2 thin screwdrivers will work, as well.

 

are the clips easy to brake? should i order some from toyota before trying to rip it apart?
