No, but it's only a little below the top of the bed. I'd say you can get a bed cover over it, but don't count me on that.

Just a thought, I just purchased this exact tool box from lowes, If you go to customer service, at my lowes its actually across from the truck tool boxes. I just gave him the part number and had the guy at lowes order it for me in black. It cost me a little more like 15ish for black but its well worth it.

Thanks, Jacked. I like the Lowes box because of the price, only about $150. I'll give it a shot.

I found this on E-bay. I wanted something under my cover. I like it and it works well.

Looks good. Do you know what brand it is? Did you mount it to the sides of your bed?

Not sure of the brand I'll have to go back through my e-bay account. I had to make brackets, It actually sits on alum angle on the lower rear then I made brackets for the sides using nut-serts. Iget the nut-serts from my p/t job.

With a UWS you can remove the front tie down rail ( so you can have the toolbox closer to the cab ) and remount it on the toolbox and the UWS badge comes off really easy and leaves no residue.

I just got the 63" angled normal profile UWS box based on reviews I found here and it's sitting in my garage because I haven't had a chance to install it. Make sure you go with angled because the standard one doesn't fit over the wheel wells, even if you have a long bed. I got it site-to-store at Home Depot for around $400, but you could save $30 or so with Amazon. The reviewers on there complained about scratches during shipping, which is why I went with Home Depot instead. There wasn't even a scratch on the packaging so that worked out pretty well.

Physically, this thing is rock solid. I had a cheapo $120 Advance Auto one on my last pickup, and they don't even compare. The lid has double layers with probably a half inch of space between them, but it looks like they injected it with foam to fill the gap because there isn't any give in it. I didn't let anybody sit on the old box but I wouldn't think twice about it with this one. The old one had a foam "weatherseal" that let in all kinds of dust and snow and anything inside quickly got coated with grime. This one looks like it actually works. The release levers are solid on both sides and the lid clicks smoothly into place. On the old one it was loose and only opened/closed properly on the driver side. The paint job is thick and heavy.

My only complaint was that I had to adjust the peg on the lid that the catch grabs when it locks. It was about 1/16th of an inch off so the catch couldn't click shut all the way, which meant the lock didn't work. Instead of locking the lid it would catch the release mechanism and open it up. I spent a few minutes adjusting it and it works smooth as butter now. Even if every unit always required this adjustment, I'd still recommend this box to everybody because it is extremely well put together. If I could have got one that was slightly inferior for $50 cheaper that locked correctly straight out of the box, I'd still go with this one.

For mounting, it comes with 2 tiny little J hooks that look like they might fit into the track. I don't think they'd grip very well if you put them down underneath the track. I'm going to reuse my old J hooks in addition to these.

The other box I'd look into if this one is just too far outside your budget is one from Northern Tool. They had a low profile Tacoma-sized one that was full width along the bottom at front and angled at the back for the wheel well, so it probably had slightly more below-the-bed volume than the UWS one.

I know you said you don't want a chest, but I love mine. It's big enough for all my shit for work! Almost twice as big as the crossbox I was looking at (according to the UWS website). Fits under my access cover perfectly too.

I paid $290 on Amazon prime for it. Waterproof with a locking handle.

Another vote for the UWS. I sold it only because I found I needed the bed space more that a toolbox.

Finally got my high profile UWS box mounted! It took me about a month longer than the traditional methods (kept snowing on me every night I had time to work on it) but it only takes 5 minutes to pull it out and put it back in. I have three 5/16" machine screws on each side going down into a piece of 3/4" angle iron that's attached to my bed rails. I have two 1/2" bolts going into a bar of Unistrut that's attached to the front rail. It's rock solid, not even a hint of movement. The angle iron and unistrut can be removed but I intend to leave them in as a permanent fixture, otherwise it would take a whole lot longer to take that box out. So for all you guys thinking you have to choose between bed space or a toolbox - it doesn't have to be that way!

Now to start building my modular tonneau cover that will pack up inside the UWS box...

I think that's the one that came on my truck. Love the low profile. It's also painted black to match the truck. Unfortunately, I didn't get a key, so I need to replace the lock before I put anything valuable in there.
