UTAH (and Surrounding Areas) BS Thread

I may go on the Wendover trip. I have to work out a few things first. Sounds fun

 

So I see this taco every day. The guy must work there at Stock building supply. Golden first gen taco. Tube front and rear bumpers, If I ever see him out i'll go talk to him. Sick whip.

debating on selling my Taco.... Im thinking of moving to a Ram 2500.. anythoughts?

 

what year? are you interested in with The Ram 2500

haha I sold my Ram to get a Taco.

 

yeah, any regrets? Don't get me wrong.. I love my Taco, have done almost everything I can do to it except re-gearing it and supercharger. Just hate the Payments and I have jeep I cant tow to well with the Taco..

 

The Ram was great but the MPG's were killing me and it was getting into those miles when everything starts to fall apart. I had a 4runner before it and decided to switch back to toyota, the only thing I really miss is the power that magnum had.

 

If your just looking for a rig for towing, check out TNT auction down in SLC. You can pic up a super cheap Forest Service Ram most of the year and the Forest Service does daily vehicle checks/logs on all their vehicles so you know exactly what your buying.

 

thanks, may have to check it out. I was thinking I would just trade my Taco, but I think ill do better selling it on my own. I know the dealers will just try and screw me

 

I thought the forest rangers had gas rigs, was unaware they had diesel.

 

? I know if I do end up selling it will be to buy a Ram 2500 Diesel 4x4 4dr short bed....and leveling kit/ or 1-2" lift.

 

nah, its not him. he only has tube front and rear, probably sliders but didn't see, i'll get a closer eye next time I drive by to go to school

 

They use both gas and diesels. Besides the big Ford 550's they use the Dodge 2500 and 3500's with the 6.7 turbo diesel. My brother in law bought one for around 500 bucks up in Oregon, it's log book had detailed daily entries, like "drove over a branch and heard a noise, upon further inspection found leaves in rear leafs". Reading the log book was my favorite part of driving in that truck.

 

So the Fam and I are going to be going on our annual Flaming Gorge camping trip this upcoming August 14th-18th, And would love to do some wheeling while out there.

"There are a few trails outside of Vernal.

Red Mountain. Rated a 5/10. Probably one of the hardest trails in the area. I've never been on it, but based on description, I'd guess about as hard as Mineral Basin. Anyway, here's a description and map: http://www.rme4x4.com/showthread.php...T-Red-Mountain

If you want straight scenic, there's a few others.

Rainbow Island Park. Probably a well maintained dirt road. Lots of hiking options off of this as well. The good description is on Utah4x4.net in the paid section, but to summarize... This is the place if you want to see petroglyphs (and dont mind hiking a little). Pretty much every foot trail will lead to some. Things to see: McKee Spring petroglyphs, Green River overlooks, Ruple Ranch, Dinosaur National Monument.. A map can be found at http://www.treknow.com/utah/backroad...sland_park.htm

Browns Park. I believe this one might be all paved, but it is a scenic drive. Things to see: Historic location along old Outlaw Trail, John Jarvie homestead, swinging bridge over Green River, Crouse Canyon views. http://www.treknow.com/utah/backroad...rowns_park.htm

Echo Park. I'd guess maintained dirt. Just another scenic drive through Dinosaur National Park, driving past Whispering Caves.

If you're taking highway 40 out there, you may want to go visit Moon Lake, as its pretty much on the way and about half way from Salt Lake to Vernal. Its a pretty popular lake in the Uintah's."
