I finally decided to lift my truck. Partially for looks, partially for health reasons (I keep hitting my head on the top of the door frame when getting into my truck). Here is what I'm thinking, followed by my questions:

ToyTec 3" Spacer lift w/ AAL
    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/3-Lift-wfront-spacers_p_314.html

    I have:
    18x9" BBS RW wheels
5.4" backspacing (+10mm Offset)(according to someone here on Tacoma World)

    Can I fit 285/65r18 BFG AT/KO's?
    Will they rub?
Will I need to remove mudflaps/trim plastic?
Will I need rear axle shims?
Will I need to lower my front transfer case?
Will there be any drive-line vibrations?
    Will I need new UCA's?

    Source for idea:

To answer part of your questions yos you will need new UCA's once you go over 2.5" you need to change them and likely want to extend your brake lines, with 285's you likely will need to trim plastic/ mudflaps

Nice to see another P'cola person on. I would def remove your mudflaps as you might rub on them or just trim. You will need new UCA's with a lift over 2.5" if you put a new leaf pack in the rear or AAL some dont need them. Just depends if you get vibs once you lift it. No idea about the transfer case, but I think not, very possible you will have vibs as we have a 2 piece driveline axle which can cause vibs when lifting our trucks throwing off the angle. Also you might need a spacer once lifted if you go that big of a tire. Another possibility is get a cab mount chop if you rub it. I am rubbing it now with my 1.25" spacer with my 4.25" backspace wheels. Going to see if once I lift it and install new UCA's if that fixes it. Hope that helps

Hey you're the first other P'cola person I've run across on here! Nice truck too BTW. Similar look to what I'm going for. Thanks a lot for the input. I'll probably just go with 265/65r18's so I don't have to worry about too much rubbing. I really wish I could afford some new adjustable shocks like what you did. Might hold out till I can find some used ones for cheap on here. I've seen a couple threads about people selling them but they seem to go VERY quickly.

I just sold those exact wheels and I was running 275/65/18 and only slight rub in reverse at full lock with a 2.5" setting on TT CO's and stock UCA's. I just had to do some very minor front plastic trimming. I was going to go up to 285/65/18 and still have enough clearance to avoid a cab mount chop but would only possibly needing 3/4" Bora wheel spacer to avoid rubbing the stock UCA's.275's to 285's was only 1/2" difference in height/width. Go with 285's, you will regret the 265's from being too small. (Heck, I was even with 275's) . I decided to go 33's and now have 16" wheels where the tires are much cheaper..Here was the 275/65/18 on black BBS 18x9 :

Awesome input! Really glad someone with my same wheels came across this! You're right. I probably will regret the smaller tires.. I'm down to do some plastic trimming but I don't really want to mess with any metal beating/grinding.

I really don't want the tire to rub on the UCA. that'd blow goats!
(in case any of you weirdos are wondering, I personally consider blowing goats to be a bad thing. I don't want tires to rub the UCA like I don't want to blow any goats.)

If you were required to do some trimming with 275/65r18's at 2.5", wouldn't you have to do some MAJOR trimming to squeeze 285's??

Nope. I did ZERO additional trimming when I went from 275/65/18 to my current 285/75/16, which is exact same size as 285/65/18. The only change in setup would be the backspacing of the new wheels, which is 4.5". That's why I suggest you getting 3/4" to 1" spacers to accommodate the wider 285/65. The BBS are 5.4" BS so 3/4" -1" spacers will work.

Thank you for telling me what I want to know Wattapunk. So the 2.5" Toytec spacer lift and 1" wheel spacers and I'll be safe to run 285/65r18's BFG AT/KO's on BBS RW's with minor fender trimming?

shims: yes, 3 degrees most likely

    lower front clamshell: no

vibs: possibly, all trucks are different. i got a driveshaft vibration from my AAL and shims. I have my carrier bearing spaced down about 1/2 to cut any vibs down. any slight vibrations that i might be having are covered by my MT tires on the highway. I would read through the front and rear vibration threads in this section, the amount of information is vast.

Does anyone have experience doing this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkVLBOnAifc

Basically installing billies without using a spring compressor.
I just don't like how the video doesn't show where the jack is jacking the lower arm back up from at the end of the install to compress the coilover during the install?
