    Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone knew around what coolant temp does the viscous fan clutch lock up and spin the fan at speed?

These trucks seem to run a pretty cool operating temp at 185* when cruising but i was wondering when the fan actually starts to spin at 100% of the motor.

My 2.7l seems to run at 198-199, with the odd show of 203-204. I can't really tell when the fan starts, though.

I know its very noticible as far as noise when the fan clutch grabs on my dads 04 taco with the 3.4L and in the morning its very noticeable that the fan clutch is grabbing just cus the clutch is cold for the first minute.

Reason i ask this question is i am playing around with some blocking off of the grill for better aerodynamics and quicker warm ups, but i dont want to block off too much.

At this point it seems like the V6 runs dead on 185 when cruising. I got a 600mi trip this weekend so we will see what grill blocking does for MPG given mild temps
