I'm looking to put on my 2007 prerunner off-road pack some new wheels and tires. I like the Kmc monsters and was wondering if I can fit the 285/65/18 with a 2.5 inch spacer in the front and a 2 inch block in the back if there will be and rubbing and what I can do to prevent rubbing

You basically have two options with the KMC Monsters and a 285/65r18 tire.

    - 18x9 with 18mm offset
    - 18x9 with -12mm offset

For the 18mm offset you will need to remove the front mud flaps and trim the front and the rear section of the fender well liner. With these you might get some slight rubbing on the upper control arm.

For the -12mm offset you will need to remove the front mud flaps, trim the front and rear section of the fender liner and chop the cab mount at the rear of the fender.

Either way it's some work to make them fit without rubbing.

So to help minimize rubbing a narrower tire would be better or is the height that's the problem

I ran 285/65/18's on a -12 offset wheel at both 2.5" and 3" in front. I only had to remove the mudflap and trim the front fender a bit. If you plan on running an ext. travel coilover or remove your sway bar you may need to do a bit more trimming though.
