2003 Double Cab - Frame Rust - Updated Pictures

Planning to purchase a 2003 Double Cab, located in Chicago, IL. Requested the owner for frame picture and he just sent some (as attached). Does your experienced eye catch anything or should we ask for more. Please let me know.

This would be my first Tacoma, so your suggestions will be valuable.

That doesn't look bad, but the area i would want pictures of would be the inside of the frame rails by the gas tank and directly opposite of it. Those were the 2 areas that rusted on mine. I've got a 2001 tacoma double cab that was purchased in Chicago that still rusted even with the owner applying POR 15.

Also request pictures of the frame directly above the rear tires. Those are some bad spots too.

the only problem is, even with pictures, if there is paint or something over it, you won't be able to see the rust.

Best case is if you do decide to purchase, be sure to check out the inside of the frame rails good before you sign papers and pay.

 

Thank you for the quick reply. I live way far from Chicago area, so going there just for checking is not feasible for me. Therefore I am trying to get as much information as possible.

I will request the owner if he could send more pictures.

 

looks almost like a new frame, ask if it had a new frame installed. either way dont see any problems with this frame from pictures.

Looks alot better than my '03 that was in Massachusetts until 2011. Minnesota has taken its toll in the last three years.

 

That's the only thing i'd be "worried about" but other then that, not at all buddy.
