09 4x2 4 cyl has the 290 lb sticker, built in CA. Going to bug the dealer about the TSB, even if the 09s aren't covered by it. If they won't cover it, then I'm going to need to see if I can find helper springs for a 4x2 (or figure out if the 4x4 helper springs will fit a 4x2.)

Yeah, reg cab. I'll have to double check the build date, but I think it was built Nov of last year. Will take a look tomorrow if I think about it.

I think that hellwig does make the helper springs for the 4X2 also. I used their helper springs on my '09 access cab 4wd and they work well. They progressively get stiffer as a load is added but don't stiffen up the ride too much unloaded (but it is a little stiffer which is exactly what I wanted). Also added the bilstein 5100's all corners and all is well. I don't feel comfortable taking my truck to a dealer for anything. The helpers work great with a load in back or towing. I would recommend this as an alternative to the TSB spring add-a-leaf. It depends on which way someone wants to go with this but I think something needs to be done to correct the soft suspension on these trucks stock. My truck rides perfect now and feels solid on the road with no irritating body roll in turns like when it was stock.

That or firestone air bags, but i wonder if the axle droop could rip one.

I just purchased a new 2009 Std cab, manual, made in California 9/08. I have the 290lb sticker. I'm confused on what the consensus of what this sticker means, can someone summarize all of this for me?

    Thanks

How do you know if you have the tow package? It isn't listed on the sticker, but I do have some serious radiator action up front, I don't know what it's for exactly for. It looks like I have a camera in the tailgate handle but no monitor because I have a basic 4cyl manual; FE, HE, RL & CF are the only listed options.

No sticker on my PreRunner w/factory tow package. I thought it would have the date of manufacture on the window sticker, but it doesn't. Next time I'm in the truck I'll have to look on the door sticker for the date.

The truck was built at NUMMI. Maybe a GM guy was supposed to stick it on, but perhaps he forgot to, or couldn't figure out which side was the sticky side.

BTW, I looked this morning and have the 3-leaf pack. Knowing the controversy, why I didn't think to look BEFORE I bought the truck was truly a Peter Griffin moment.

I'm still wondering what all your payloads are scale based... gvwr-truck weight.
Toyota needs to act, first american brand to use this against toyota in an ad. could really mess up toyo sales even more.

I bought my 2009 DBL SR5 4X4 two weeks ago. Made in Mexico. Saw this post and went and looked. My sticker is thin and Yellow and says it has 8LBS reduced capacity. The 8 is written in sharpie. Not sure if anyone else had the same. I have the 3 leaf in the back.

Has the weight issue with the rear springs been addressed for the 2010 model year Tacomas?
I have been trying to get an '09 from my dealer, and have run into snags as far as availability goes. Finally decided to say screw it, and had him order me a 2010.
