    Agreed, but probably not.

The spring issue has been around far beyond long enough for Toyota to fix it at factory if they want to. I expect the "car like" (read: mushy) ride that comes from factory is what many people prefer, because they don't understand the purpose of a truck.

Toyota could design the springs how ever they wanted. If they wanted a squishy ride and the added height (suspension travel) of the TSB they could do so. Spring steels comes in many different compositions and leaf designs can vary. I don't see why people think it has to do with the squishy ride.

The TSB trucks probably ride stiffer because Toyota thought doing an AAL with an already available leaf was the most cost effective solution...albeit with a stiffer ride.

Squishy ride + cost effective. They COULD redesign for higher payload with equal squishiness...but why, when only probably 5% or less of owners care about the issue at all?

I definitely prefer my firmer footing after the TSB...going to be adding a leaf before too long which may make things even stiffer, possibly beyond comfort. Ah well. Want the lift.

Ditto, my '09 TRD OR access cab says reduced by 5lbs. Does that mean I don't need (already have?) the TSB spring pack?

If I don't have the TSB spring pack but I'm not likely to ever haul serious payloads should I bother?

Is this a serious question? It was built in Mexico and sold in the US.

O9 dbl cab 4x4 base model, built in Mexico. I have the 290lb sticker. A couple days ago i e-mailed toyota after i short hauled some mulch (400-500lbs )Felt like i was doing a wheelie, Mud flaps hit the ground on bumps and only was going 20-25 mph, didnt track straight a little squirrally, ( is that a word? ) weaving a little. I'm gonna see what pans out. I intend on hauling once in a while, thats why i have a bed in the back. Not just for transporting a case of beer. Seems like alot of 09 owners got the tsb because part #'s match 08's. The tsb includes 4 shocks so i think i have alot to gain from my base model ( 3 leafs + oem shocks ). Will see what happens.

I just checked my 09 DBL cab SB SR5 with towing. It does have a sticker, which states 14lbs.

I also have been reading up on the 3 leaf setup and looks like mine fall in the category as many others. (48210-04550-K RH, 48220-04190-K LH). I only have 300 miles on so far, so I will wait a bit before testing a load out.

Hell my 2006 had the right rear leaf bust and I never really hauled anything in it. It happened at 22k miles. Longo refused to replace both sides. Wata JOKE!

I have the sticker on my '09 TRD 4x4 access BUT the place ment is on the outside of the door frame and the sticker says "Due to modifications to this truck Load capacity reduced by 2kgs or 4lbs"
I couldn't care less about a 4lbs reduction....but after reading all of the above posts above...I wonder if the techs aren't just writing random numbers on the sticker or just guessing. I have the 3 pack of lief springs on my truck and I have all the options including SR5, TRD, and the tow package. Why is my load capacity only reduced by 4 lbs???? I have the same spring set up as most of the posts on here, so this makes me question the accuracy of the sticker.
Once I haul my motorcycle I will know if I have a problem, and if I do I will take action. I think the 4lbs sticker will help my case if I have any problems, I will suggest that the sticker was inaccurate therefore the truck was sold to me under false pretenses and with a factory flaw of an inaccurate hauling capacity.

I wrote a letter to Toyota customer care about this issue (and about the crappy shift feel at low speeds around town) and they confirmed (only verbally, of course) that new stickers would be sent out before the end of the year to customers who had the blanket 290 lbs stickers. My truck, dble cab SR-5 4x4 towing package gets a 100 lbs deduction, mainly reflecting the weight of the trailer hitch, transmission cooler, added coolant. Big deal. I do wish they had gotten their paper work right in the first place. This is kind of a surprising error for a company that presumably knows how to use computers to guide production processes and regulatory compliance. Sheesh.
