Not for me, my AR (18'' barrel) and my dads AR (16'' barrel) are a good 6 and 4 inches longer than my ruger P95 in the isosceles stance.

It all boils down to what you've trained with and for. I do a lot of low light shooting to gain that experience. How my house is, Maneuverability is horrible with an ar. an ar pistol would be fine.

Accuracy is all on the weapon operator. I can hit within 6 inches 10-15 yards away on my glock 19 without having to look down the sights. It's all off of muscle memory, feel, and practice.

I was going off myself, I got long arms. My point is, an AR isnt actually that long.

    True, thats what matters most.

If a you and a bad guy both face off in the hallway and both shoot at the same time, and you are only able to get one round off, would you want it to be a pistol round or a rifle round?

    I want an MP5.

For me? I'd want it to be MY pistol round. I'm a firm believer in the hornady critical duty rounds.
    Nasty little rounds

I would love to have an mp5 to add to my collection.

Well to each his own, but a HP rifle round would be much more effective.

One more thing to consider for Cali people, you cant shoot someone just because they broke in, they have to be presenting a threat to your life that a reasonable person would agree with.

I think a over under or side by side shotgun is at once intimidating and immediately recognizable. When faced with a big bore gun the fear will be there, and i would want the assailent to fear me.

Is that you Joe Biden? How about just firing some warning shots? Will definitely stop any reasonable person. Because the people break into houses while jacked up on PCP are definitely reasonable. Don't know about you, but I want something that will physically, not just mentally, incapacitate an intruder.

Mossberg 500 with the shorty barrel is in the closet, shells are in a jacket pocket hanging in the closet, First warning is a racking sound that would make me think twice as an intruder, Second is a blast of rubber shot, third is 00 buck to the chest!

9mm doesnt have much stopping power, you will need .45 to make a point! but 7.62x39 is going to stop buddy dead in his tracks too, also it will go through buddy, go through the wall and possibly into another wall. I was shooting targets on large trees with 7.62x39, the rounds were going through the tree and then passing through three or four other trees behind it! AK is almost too long for moving through hall ways keep in mind.

I've seen more dead guys from 380 and 9mm than I have from 45...most being single shots

Sorry man but this is a terrible strategy.

Racking the shotgun to scare them off also let's them know where you are at. So potentially a bad guy could hear you rack and just dump his mag in that direction. If you did face an armed intruder your first rubber shot may not stop him and he may return fire! Always prepare for the worst.
